Life & Work with Brian Haynes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Haynes.

Hi Brian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Like most streamers, I’ve been gaming most of my life. I used to play the Nintendo 64 with my two brothers almost every day. It wasn’t until October 2018 that I truly started my journey of streaming. One of my good friends, Joshua Sprang, said that he would like to see more of my PUBG gameplay.

At one point, I was ranked top .01% in duos and quads on XBOX. I began casually streaming gameplay for a week or so and learned more about the streaming community on Twitch. This almost instantly became a passion of mine. I began talking to a multitude of different streamers and learning about their setups and what they enjoyed about streaming. This eventually led to me creating an Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, and starting up a community Discord. The Reapsandpeeps discord was my pride and joy when I began my journey. It was a casual place where streamers could learn from each other, collaborate, and work together to grow their channel/content.

I’ve gradually taken small steps on all platforms to make sure my content is up to par with the larger streamers and am always trying to create new and entertaining content for a variety of audiences. Through content creation, the community has been able to raise several thousand dollars for varying charities from helping those diagnosed with Cancer, to those seeking help with mental health.

The constant learning, perseverance, and dedication, the content and channel have become the casual and enjoyable place they are today. I feel lucky and blessed to have gotten the pleasure to meet the outstanding individuals I have through content creation. Without many of these experiences, I would not have been able to grow and learn the way I have.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been an absolute roller coaster. The internet and “fame” moves so fast that it’s almost impossible to grasp. In the chances that you are able to attain a moment of fame, it is almost always followed by a small pit of despair.

The experiences you have on that ride are always worth it though. Nothing great is usually achieved without hard work and struggle. For me, the largest struggle has always been finding the time, energy, and mentality to put into content creation every day. It’s a passion and a hobby for me currently, which as much as I love it, does not pay the bills. Seeing my content make someone’s day better or affect them in a positive light always makes it all worth it to me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a full-time Firefighter/EMT at North Kansas City Fire Dept. I feel lucky to have the job that I do and am able to go to work every single day and constantly learn. There have been many opportunities that have opened up due to this line of work for me and I have been able to make some excellent acquaintances through my job.

I am most proud of my wrestling career when I was younger. I was able to win a state championship in Missouri twice (once in 7th grade and once my senior year of High School). It was an extremely difficult task that not many accomplish and I was able to through hard work and constant dedication to the sport.

What sets me apart from others is my constant will to learn and grow. You have to be able to adapt to as many situations as possible and learn a variety of ways to go about any task. On the side of my full-time job, I am a part-time streamer and content creator. I work with Kansas City Pioneers, which is a grassroots esports/content team located in Kansas City. I do charity work from time to time using my platforms as well.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I’m new to the area of Parkville and tend to spend more time in Kansas City since that is where I’ve lived most of my life and wanted to stay near it in my recent purchase of a home. My favorite part of the city is the diversity and the fact that every street leads you to a new experience. My least favorite part about the city is it can be difficult to connect with others at times due to the demeanor of the city.
