Meet Cadence Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cadence Miller.

Hi Cadence, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I consider myself an entrepreneurial jack of all trades. In 2019, I started my own social media marketing that caters to small businesses. Previously, I worked as a live entertainer (sing, dance, etc.) in theatres across the country.

With my entertainment experiences and stories, I started a podcast called Sh*t the Audience Says. Local performers were invited on to tell their comical behind-the-scenes stories, including bizarre or inappropriate comments from the audience.

Due to COVID19, everything came to a stop. Due to work, we moved to Kansas City where I’m gaining traction once again. Slowly, I’m building back my social media presence and starting a new podcast venture on YouTube.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! First, I struggle with direction. I want to do it ALL. So sticking to one single path/career has always been a struggle. So I’ve tried doing it all, all at once.

Second, COVID was the hardest hit. Theatres shut down, small businesses weren’t spending the extra money for marketing while closed, due to social distancing the podcast just wasn’t practical, and so on.

Now, living in a new city, you have to start from scratch – building relationships, networking, getting to know the local area, and so on.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’d say, top of the list is theatre. I began performing in high school and ended up going to college for music theatre at the University of Central OK. It has truly been a passion that’s allowed me live and travel all across the U.S.

Through this, I started to get the hang of social media. I’d go on Snapchat or Instagram and share my funny stories and adventures. Thus… STAS was born.

What were you like growing up?
I grew in a small town in the corner of Oklahoma. It’s now a famous town, considered the national’s #1 super fund site due to the lead contamination and sinkholes from mining.

I lived the typical small-town life but always wanted the spotlight – playing dress up, putting on shows, designing clothes in my notebooks, trying my skills with photography.. the list goes on.

I was very independent and knew I’d end up somewhere in the creative space.
