Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean McNown.
Hi Sean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Emerald City started back in 1996 as a private gymnastics club in Overland Park. Our focus was recreational and competitive gymnastics for boys and girls. We feel our success was by having fun through fitness.
In 2001, Emerald City merged with Bump City and expanded their operations to include not only gymnastics, but a building full of fun activities including a 5,000 square foot indoor rock wall and an indoor playground featuring in ground trampolines, tunnels, slides, climbing structures and a zipline.
Emerald City has been growing their gymnastics programs, offering climbing classes, birthday parties, playtimes, seasonal camps and private events including Lock-Ins!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This past year has unquestionably been the hardest. We were forced to shut down for a few months when COVID first hit. We slowly reopened with increased cleaning protocols, purchased and regularly used a disinfecting fogger, placed social distancing markings all over the gym, and enforced wearing a mask. Mask enforcement proved to be the most difficult rule we have ever had to enforce here. It seems like things are finally getting back to normal!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Emerald City?
