Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgane Freeman. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Morgane Freeman is a Kansas City, MO native. This Midwestern girl doesn’t care much for sports, she’s more into the food and art of the city.
Speaking of food, Morgane is a plant-based cook and eater, who started sharing her plant-based recipes on social media back in 2017. Though her parents are both great cooks, her father actually cooks professionally, Morgane didn’t learn to cook until age 23.
Once Morgane started to master the kitchen by reading cookbooks, blogs, and cooking shows, she got in the recipe lab to create her own take on delicious plant-based foods so you won’t even miss the animal products on her website and Instagram page. (@Morgane_Eats)
She is an HBCU grad from Wilberforce University with a Master in Marketing. During her time in Ohio, she was a campus queen. Morgane is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
By day, she works in social media. By night, Morgane works on her podcast, Young Black MRS. This podcast is a lifestyle podcast geared towards newly married women.
In her free time, Morgane loves spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle I’ve faced while working on my podcast and website is feeling like, “why me?” Imposter syndrome is a real thing for sure. I’m learning by engaging with my community on social media that I’m doing this because I am relatable to someone. I recently completed an Instagram takeover for a popular plant-based account. The response about being a Midwest girl trying to eat less meat and more plants was that those people could relate to me. I’m overcoming by pulling into my authentic self.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself as a Digital Content Producer. In my full-time professional career, I work in social media in the financial industry. My love for content creation spilled over to my podcast and blog. My podcast, Young Black MRS, is a bi-weekly podcast addressing issues newly married women face from feeling married to now interacting with friends and family after marriage. I also sprinkle in a little foodie content as well as current events. Most episodes also have great guest interviews related to married women.
But I also consider myself a major foodie. I document what I’m eating on my YouTube channel and Instagram page, Morgane_Eats. My goal is to make plant-based eating approachable and affordable. Some of my favorite recipes are my mushroom scallops, crab cakes, and shakshuka.
How do you define success?
For me, success won’t be in dollars and followers. Success for me is helping someone make a positive change in her life. Whether she decides to try more plant-based foods or she develops a better relationship with herself, her spouse, her friends, or her family.
