Exploring Life & Business with Holli Queen of The Heartland Lodge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holli Queen.

Hi Holli, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my career in the wedding industry with a brief experience as a wedding planner with the aspiration of owning a wedding venue. My husband and I purchased The Heartland Lodge in November 2020 and I feel like the luckiest person on earth to get to live the career of my dreams! My professional background is HR, I have always loved working with and helping people.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been relatively smooth. I would say my biggest challenge is that just like when you start any new job, I don’t know “everything”. Although, I plan to be learning and continue to grow in the wedding industry after I have been in it for many, many years! I have been fortunate to meet other wedding professionals who have been very kind and helpful to me, and I am so appreciative of that.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is the wedding venue located in the country (about 45 minutes from Kansas City). Our venue is a rustic elegant venue with a lodge look and feel.

Our bride and her bridesmaids are pampered in the spacious bridal suite with a private en suite bathroom. The hair and makeup artists love the amazing lighting, plentiful outlets and accommodating vanity stations.

Our groom’s cabin, located just far enough away from the lodge to allow for the bride and groom to get ready with no worries of accidental meetings, is planned for a fun and relaxing day for the groom and his friends. Rocking chairs on the front porch, a foosball table, TV, kitchenette, and bathroom with a shower are among the amenities in the groom’s cabin.

A breathtakingly beautiful outside ceremony site is set among nature framed by the trees.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband is by far my biggest cheerleader and supporter. He owns a commercial construction company and is very busy with his obligations there, but still finds the time to help me with the “heavy lifting” at The Heartland Lodge. He also will help me with wedding day activities (although he is an avid hunter and tells me come hunting season he will not be at the venue, but in a tree stand nowhere close to the venue, ha!) He challenges me to think bigger and brighter than I ever dared to dream, then he is by my side to help me achieve the goals set.
