Rising Stars: Meet Mindy Coulter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindy Coulter. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Positive Vibes SUP + Fit started in 2017 with the intent to bring SUP {Stand Up Paddleboard} yoga to the Kansas City area. At first, Mindy started by partnering with LL Bean and their Outdoor Adventure Program as well a local yoga and fitness studios to bring this unique experience to the area. The response from was tremendous! From there, Positive Vibes SUP + Fit was born. Programing quickly evolved from SUP Yoga to SUP Lessons, Private SUP Parties, SUP Yoga Women’s Retreats, and SUP Kids Camp. Striving every year to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone, be adventurous, and try something new

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As with every small business and new venture, it’s not always easy. After investing the startup capital to purchase our fleet and get our website up and running, we ran into issues working with local municipalities on signing contracts to operate on their bodies of water. Since this was so new to many, people didn’t feel there was a market for the service we were providing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Prior to starting Positive Vibes SUP + Fit, I was a realtor for 10 years in Omaha, Nebraska before relocating to the KC area and staying home with our young daughters. Health and fitness has always been a passion of mine but business, sales, and marketing has always been my career. After being home a couple of years I started working part-time as a Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor in at local gym. I was looking for something else to do to be unique, that’s when SUP Yoga caught my eye. I signed up for a training in California on a whim and jumped in headfirst. Since then, I’ve been trained in SUP in Florida and North Carolina, meeting fantastic people in the industry all across the US. SUP is a very seasonal business. After taking a couple of years off, I’m now a licensed Realtor in Kansas and Missouri helping clients in this crazy post covid market as well as focusing on investment properties and creating passive income for my clients.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Over the years of teaching SUP, I’ve met some amazing women through my classes. I’ve met women who were scared but my class was on their bucket list. I’ve met women who were celebrating being cancer-free. women celebrating their birthdays, family outings, surprise parties, bachelorettes, and even women from different countries wanting to try something they can’t do at home. These women and those memories, I will always cherish. I can’t thank the KC community for giving us so many amazing memories.
