Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesley Reyes.
Lesley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We started Ollama in March during quarantine when we had no assurance that our respective careers would have a future. This was an idea we always had but never aggressively pursued. We started Ollama with the hope that a coffee shop could inspire younger Latino generations and teach every one of the beautiful cultures we have.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We’ve had some construction on the street and some Covid restrictions but other than. That, pretty smooth.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional makeup artist and esthetician, I’ve done celebrity work and red carpet events while living in LA and my husband is an A license academy soccer coach who is the technical director at Ryugoku Soccer Academy, having previously worked at Chicago Fire and Barça Academy.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
If there is no risk, there is no gain. My husband and I have always taken risks with every major life event. We moved away from Kansas City as young adults, we always figured if we could come back if it didn’t work. We took risks in choosing to do the careers we have when we were told they weren’t real jobs and we’ve been very successful. Same with the coffee shop; “opening a business during a pandemic?!” But we’ve believed it would work and we work hard to make our thoughts and ideas a reality and it works. We also try to really learn from all our mistakes. The mistake happened for a reason, so what can we do to fix it?
