Rising Stars: Meet Amara Nichols

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amara Nichols.

Hi Amara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been into arts and crafts for as long as I can remember. I used to be a big time scrapbook-er until social media came out and I stopped printing pictures. I still loved going to the scrapbook store and buying all the pretty printed papers and embellishments. So, I started making greeting cards. It just became a thing with me and every year, everyone that received a card from me knew that it was hand-made by me. It’s so much more special that way! Now I have been making cards for many, many years but it was just last year that I decided to create my business and offer them for sale. 2020 was a year! My boyfriend’s company that he worked at for ten years shut down, let everyone go, and sold the business. Naturally, this was the perfect year for me to start my small business greeting card shop!

There are no two cards that are the same. Each one is one of a kind and they are all hand-made by me! I love being able to use my creativity in each card that I make and hope you all enjoy! I believe that sending cards are just a great way to show you care. And you’re helping a small business while doing so. besides, cards last longer than flowers 🙂

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing great comes easy! I would say the hardest part is growing my following on social media and spreading the word that I have a greeting card shop. I currently sell them on Instagram and Facebook. I tried Etsy but it was hard to do with not having multiples of each card so that may come someday! The hardest part is only having one of me on holidays that are more popular but I am learning along the way!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I came from a family of artists so it was no surprise that I love art and creativity. I graduated from College with my bachelor of arts in graphic design. Although I only did a few freelances here and there with graphic design, I actually use it a lot now for my personal brand and blog. I also have my personal channel @amarajean for creating content. I focus on fitness and fashion, inspiring women to look and feel their best! I am most proud of all of the lessons I have learned in life and being able to share that with my audience.

Aside from that, I work for a tile distributor as their showroom designer. So, you can say that I love all things art, fashion and design!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I wouldn’t say that I have had any luck in my business. I take pride in the fact that I work hard and put the time and effort in all projects that I take on.
