Daily Inspiration: Meet Terra Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terra Johnson.

Hi Terra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always knew I wanted to be a model being young it was something I thought about… just never knew how to get into it… going through life, I would tell myself to just stop thinking about it. In 2016 my cousin tagged me in a post about a casting that was local. I went and made some connections and it was just a snowball effect from there. I modeled for a year in St. Louis for local boutiques and a well know plus designer Qrystal Frazier. I was able to be trained by the creator of Full Figured Fashion Week Gwen DeVoe. I’ve modeled for Honey’s Child Boutique a well-known STL plus boutique. With her, I got to meet other plus influencers such as Liris Crosse and The Curvy Fashionista. I’ve modeled for Shalaja’s Swimwear for LA fashion week. Was able to travel to Alabama to be a part of the Fill Figured Fierce event…I am on my 10th season of Kansas City Fashion Week. I was so honored to have made it every season. Being able to do these shows and social media has also connected me with designers. I was able to walk for Paris Fashion Week with Fashion week’s studios officials for designers Sasha Walton of House Of Solana she was one of the first plus-size designers to do this show ever so that was a big moment ..she found me on Facebook and she’s been a designer that has taken me along with her we have traveled together and she will be showing her line this September for Kansas City Fashion Week. We also plan to do Milan Fashion Week 2022. I love how my journey has helped and inspired others. I’ve taught numerous workshops for models of all shapes and sizes but my goal is to show all women or anyone that you can achieve anything that you are passionate about.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
People don’t understand that being a model is work and not all glitz and glam or as beautiful as the pics make it look. It takes money, sacrificing and sometimes restless nights but I wouldn’t change it for the world. When it’s your passion, there’s something in you that just says keep going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am Co-Founder of Curve Network KC which is a group that was put together by myself and Founder Cambre Napier; we put this group together as a platform for other plus models, plus friendly designs, photographers, etc. In the KC area. It just serves as a place where there is no judgment of any kind and a place where we have resources for plus women in the area and surroundings. I am known for being a local KC model. I try to be an inspiration to others and if anyone has questions about anything modeling, I want to be a person that they come to. If I don’t know, I try to direct them in the right direction. I am most proud of how far I’ve come and my different experiences. Being able to live a dream is surreal and not everyone can say that. What sets me apart from others is that I am just me and have never tried to be anyone else.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I think it’s has all been positive vibes for the most part, God puts opportunities in my path and I am thankful for them.
