Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Wulfekoetter.
Hi Miranda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’m a mom of three little ones (1, 4, 7) and a creative junkie. My house is my canvas and I consider room transformations to be my practical art. I’ve always had a love for interiors, antique shops, and DIY. I worked in human resources for 10 years and felt it was killing my creativity…and my soul! I had little children that I wanted to stay home with, and decided to leave the professional arena about three years ago. To make that happen, we had to downsize dramatically and bought a home that needed a lot of love and attention.
I started sharing the process of making over our little house, one room at a time, one blog and Instagram post at a time. I also started buying and selling decor and furniture, which grew into a fairly profitable Etsy shop and Facebook marketplace presence. I now offer e-design services and adore being able to help others make their home feel more like “them”.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Growing this little creative corner of the internet has been a bit bumpy— trying to have an income while also working my tail off as a stay-at-home mom has been super challenging. Also tackling all of these home projects myself has been challenging. I taught myself how to use power tools and have learned tons along the way (both in DIY skills and navigating the blogging world). I’ve made lots of friends in the online interiors community and continue to feel inspired— I wouldn’t change any of the hard stuff.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a design and DIY blogger I pride myself on making spaces unique and beautiful on a budget of basically $0. I pride myself on making spaces unique and beautiful on a budget of basically $0. Reusing and repurposing items for your home is not only a sustainable way to operate, but also affordable and very often one-of-a-kind. You don’t always have to rip out everything and start from scratch. Really, you rarely need to do that. A little paint, some elbow grease, and a few statement pieces, and you have a whole new view.
I’ve transformed our little home one room at a time, usually with a hundred dollars or less. I love showing my Instagram and blog communities how to make spaces feel more like their own without breaking the bank. I offer e-design services and blog about all of my work and tutorials.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Time at home in quarantine and isolation really showed me how important it is to have functional, cohesive, and beautiful surroundings. My living space has a direct impact on my mood and seriously on my mental health. If my surroundings are in disarray, I often feel the same way! With everyone home this past year+, we lived differently. I really had to simplify and streamline my decor and really gravitated toward more neutrals and calming vibes.
