Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Patterson.
Hi Leah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I did things a little differently than most. Today I am a 25-year-old woman with a successful store in Overland Park and a husband of 6 years, but it took a lot of work to get there! It started in high school (Blue Valley West) where I applied for a position at a little shop in town. That’s where the first spark started for me. I was at the age where I had to decide on going off to college – but I knew my route was different. I decided not to go to college and to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams. I married my husband at 19 years old and embarked on my ecommerce journey when I was 20. About a year later I decided to open up my own little brick & mortar shop and pursue my dreams further! A lot of long hours and late nights later I moved to my dream location almost 2 years ago. Today I am able to employ amazing people and continue pursuing my dreams. It all started with a little spark and a whole lot of hope/faith in myself and I’m so glad I leaned into that!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but it’s one I wouldn’t change. My husband and I embarked on this journey not really knowing anything about business but knowing a passion that we believed could turn into something great. We started with no capital, no mentors, and nothing to fall back on. So when challenges crossed our paths we had to figure those things out ourselves.

At Simply Shine our mission is to spread confidence and kill insecurity through personal style that shines! Something I am incredibly proud of is my employees and the amazing atmosphere they provide for our customers. We offer unique trendy pieces to women of all ages that will have them feeling stylish & confident!

What matters most to me is the relationships we have with our customers and the relationships we as a team have with each other.
