Life & Work with Brandee Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandee Alexander.

Hi Brandee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well to put it simply, Trauma was what launched me, trauma is what got me where I am today. Sometimes trauma can be the catalyst, the very thing that launches you into where you are supposed to be. I’m originally from Omaha, Nebraska. Born and raised for most of my life. I was also married at one point. The divorce literally almost crushed me, I love my hometown, and nothing will ever replace it. But I needed out, I needed newness and a sense of peace and restoration. I applied for jobs in every state but the one I previously resided in, and I lucked up and Kansas City was calling my name. I had already had my final divorce hearing and moved in less than 4 weeks. It was the best birthday and fresh start I had experience thus far. Until the following Monday after my move, the entire city shut down due to COVID.

Just imagine it for a moment, recently divorced, alone at home with nothing but my thoughts in a new location. It was surreal, it was unbelievable at the time. Thanks to good advice from a good friend, I was encouraged to start a private group on Facebook for women to connect and heal. It took off. Currently, I have 500 women plus in the group and we have added so many additions such as merchandise, a website, giveaways, even virtual speaking engagements and we are hoping to start giving away funds to help women in tight situations such as supporting women-led families and helping them get back on their feet and providing financial literacy. There is so much more work to be done to help our community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It had not been a smooth road. Shortly after heading back into work and starting the business my mother-in-law passed away due to COVID, and days later my ex-husband passed away after her also due to COVID. It made a complicated situation even more complicated. It halted some progression we’d made. Everything came to a halt I had to figure out what it was that I needed in order to process, heal, and continue moving forward. If I can do it, anyone can. Divorce is already complicated but Death that’s just an added layer of healing. Once I could finally move forward, I started feeling like I could really dig my heels into this and make something great of this. I also ran into challenges with money and ordering products and keeping this venture afloat. I’m still navigating this but I’ve learned great priceless lessons along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in helping women heal from past traumas and negative life experiences. I am most proud of starting this company in one of the most difficult times in my life amongst dealing with the pandemic and being active for a year. I’m also proud that I had the courage to step out in faith to accomplish my dreams of helping women-led families thrive for the better.
