Emma, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I Do Denim started in 2019 when the Kansas City Chiefs were heading to the Super Bowl. I was looking for the perfect accessory to wear when watching the playoff games with my friends and it dawned on me that a customized jean jacket would be perfect. I started embellishing a jacket that already had my name on it and added specific elements to make it unique to me. Soon, I was making jackets for my family and friends, and eventually, they convinced me to start marketing my jackets and selling them on social media. From there, I Do Denim expanded to include bridal designs, city-specific spirit, mini jackets, male jackets, and all sizes. I now do denim jackets to truly match any idea or theme a client has in mind. If it weren’t for my support system empowering me, I would not have had the confidence to branch out and begin the journey that I Do Denim is on.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The largest challenge that I Do Denim faces is time. My goal with every jacket is to provide a personalized and intentional experience. I truly want the jacket you are ordering to be unique to you and exactly what you are looking for or if it is a gift, for that friend or family member. For some clients, this can take days and for others, this can take weeks. So, being a team of one can be a challenge to meet everyone’s time frame and hopes. I do my best, but sometimes I cannot take on an order due to the turnaround time. This causes my biggest ask to be, if you are interested in a jacket, please reach out early so that I can give you an individualized experience while also meeting your time frame.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I Do Denim provides custom jackets to clients for any occasion! This could include everyday wear, sports/city/school spirit, wedding-themed, or small business marketing. The special thing about I Do Denim is there is not just a one size fits all design. I create jackets for all genders, sizes, and design ideas. If you have an idea, inspiration, or occasion you want to showcase through your jacket, I can take those thoughts and bring them to life to make your jacket exactly what you are looking for.
What makes you happy?
The piece of I Do Denim that brings me the most joy is being able to see you wear your jacket in person or via pictures. In each order, I make sure the client or whoever the jacket is for has information to share their jacket on social media and tag I Do Denim. It is rare for me to see the jackets worn for the occasion they were bought for, so when I get to, it brings me so much happiness that I could be a small part of your favorite memories.
