Rising Stars: Meet Ju’dah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ju’dah.

Hi Ju’dah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I knew I wanted to rap in the 7th grade in my math class. He made us write a rap about fractions or something. I then performed in front of the school and the rest was history. I didn’t take it that serious but all my friends knew I rapped, I sent my music to my friends all the time and they were vining to it. In the 10th grade, I would sneak off to the garage and record raps on Instagram for hours hiding them from my family because I was too embarrassed.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I have dealt with age discrimination a lot. I have performed at clubs since I was 16 years old. My talent always stood out but since I was a kid in a lot of people’s eyes they would downplay me, well try to at least. I have also had to work double to stand out. Nothing I’ve received was handed to me and I built my career from the ground up.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a recording artist. I am known for my songs “Ride for me” and “Stingy” and a few other songs. Recently a lot of people have booked me for their shows because of the energy that I bring when I perform. I am most proud of the songs that I can create and my performances. They show my creative side and let people get a chance to know JU’DAH. What sets me apart is I don’t have the typical Kansas City rapper sound. If you listen to my music, you will see each song has a different message and a different sound. The hunger that I have to succeed sets me apart as well.

What were you like growing up?
I asked a lot of questions as a kid. I used to raise my hand a lot because I always wanted to know more. My peers would tell me that they like how I could be myself and not care. In school, I used to have teachers call me “The boss” growing up, I’m shocked that I did that. I used to take risks as well. Always would go for opportunities. At 16, I flew out to LA to film a pilot called “Kreine”.
