Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisela Gaxiola.
Hi Gisela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Sonora, Mexico. My story and relationship with Beauty begins when I turned 15 (36 years ago)
Years later, when I decided to come to the U.S after I got my bachelor’s degree in Mexico and after I had been practicing makeup as a hobby I wanted to learn it professionally.
Once I had my clientele established I wanted something else, my dream was to have my own makeup brand, I knew it wouldn’t be easy but it was already on my bucket list.
After working on countless faces as a Professional Makeup Artist, I realized that if the canvas (skin) was not in good condition I wouldn’t be able to achieve a perfect application, it was then when I decided to start learning more about skin and became obsessed with it, at this time the idea of having my own brand was still there but with a twist, instead of having a makeup brand I would start with skincare.
In 2017 Puresse Cosmetics was founded, a natural, organic, unique skincare line that delivers results to any skin type.
In May 2021 The Beauty Loft opened its doors, we offer a variety of services, just to mention some of them, customized facials, body contouring, makeup application, lash extensions, and much more…all of our services are focused on enhancing women’s natural beauty.
My mission is to have people feel beautiful inside and out.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Of course none of this has been easy but no one said it had to be… First and foremost the language barrier, the decision of moving into a different country by myself without speaking a word of English it was definitely one of my biggest challenges that I am so proud of, learning English was my priority back then and I still struggle sometimes, but now I have my kids who help me with my pronunciation lol.
Another big factor that made me take baby steps with my business was the investment, it is not easy when you decide to start a business with no money and no investors.
This journey has been a learning process and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Licensed Esthetician, Makeup Artist, and Instructor. I specialize in Skincare/Facials, Body Contouring and Bridal Makeup. I am well known for my makeup courses and for delivering results with my skincare treatments.
Everything I do, I do it with love, each person that is on my chair/treatment room deserves the best, to me every single client is my VIP client!
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Yes! Education is key, educate yourself on whatever you want to become an expert on, do your research, invest in quality, go above and beyond and share your knowledge, educate your clients…I heard once that if you keep everything to yourself you stop growing…remember you are unique at what you do, stop worrying about competing with others, no one is like you, focus on yourself and try to be your best version every day!
