Today we’d like to introduce you to Ieisha Justice.
Hi Ieisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved nails since I was a little girl. I pursued my nail dreams in January 2020 after being employed with corporate jobs for over 11 years. I went to school Part-time and worked full time. When the pandemic hit, I had to do school online. I had no clients and had to work on either myself or family members. I was laid off from work and needed to find a way to make this dream come true. I had my doubts and kept applying for another job. While waiting for jobs to contact me back, I still had to study nail technology and be home with my husband and children. Every night since I started nail school, I would work on doing a nail design and stay up until 3 am in the morning. I still to this day work on nail art until 3 am. I like to research everything nail-related. I no longer work for anyone besides myself and I keep faith and confidence in what I do which makes me still be who I am. I love my clients. They keep me going and keep in challenges to perfect my craft.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wanted to go to nail school in High School. I was told to research “How much a nail tech makes.” In 2o11, from what I had researched a Nail Tech made did not make a lot from doing nails. In 2012, started studying mass communications/journalism. I was a Host at the University Of Missouri-Kansas City. I left school after almost two years and started working full-time for personal reasons. I continued to work full-time but for each job, I seemed to be distracted and kept trying to sign up for nail school. I would call nail schools each year thinking the hours would change. I would ask if there was a way to negotiate class hours. I finally applied for nail school in 2020. I had to let go of the job, I had to go to nail school then find a job to fit my school schedule. Overall, I am happy I finally got my license and now have my business after working full-time jobs for over 11 years. I was a “Radio Host” at the UMKC radio station.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
