Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasper Sanders.
Hi Jasper, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started personal training six years ago (summer 2015). I honestly had no plans to become a trainer even though I earned a BS degree in Kinesiology- Exercise Science. After my football career concluded, I started training part-time and that quickly grew into a full time. I began to get a ton of positive feedback about my training and how hundreds of individuals had benefited physically and mentally from training with me. After a few years of training and helping local people, I started to think about how could I reach more people to improve their overall health and fitness.
So in late June of 2019, I started my own company, Deposit The Work, with the idea of a fitness training app that could reach people all over the world. My plan was to help individuals who were wanting to learn more about fitness or people who have fell off of fitness after trying multiple times with no direction on how to accomplish the task. After sitting down and discussing with a good amount of people about why or what could help them stick with their fitness, I came up with a pretty unique business model for my fitness app. Deposit The Work business model is pretty unique in a way that users have the ability to earn cashback by simply taking care of their health. Users have the ability to earn their subscription charge and even more money back each month by using the app. There are a multitude of ways for individuals to earn points such as burning calories, completing monthly challenges, or even logging the miles they run.
During quarantine in 2020, I reached out to a development team located in India to make my vision become an actual app. It took us months to code the app correctly and we were finally able to release the Deposit The Work Fitness App on in late January 2021.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road so far has been what I expected. There was plenty of roadblock leading up to the launch of the app; the launch was actually pushed back 20+ days in January.
As a brand new start-up company gaining trust amongst individuals has been the hardest part, especially with this very unique business model. I believe people were first hesitate about subscribing to the app as they may have believe it was a sort of scheme, which it is completely not! But over these first few months, I believe the company is transitioning very well and gaining more credibility. The installs, subscriptions, and retention of the app is constantly getting better each month which is very exciting to see!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Deposit The Work is a fitness app that was built to benefit its users. This app legitimately pays users cash back for investing into their health. Users have the ability to earn their subscription charge and even more cashback each month. There are plenty of fun and beneficial ways for users to earn points that lead up to cash in their wallet. Subscribers can run miles, perform workouts that are on the app or freelance their workout, train consecutive days in a row, or even complete the challenge for that specific month. All of the workouts that are on the app for users to do are backed by science as well. The Deposit The Work app also has numerous amounts of different recipes for you to actually enjoy the foods you eat while still losing weight and becoming healthier. Their recipes range from muscle gain, low carb, keto, and even vegan for subscribers to choose from.
As a fairly new company, we are still adding phases into the app to help benefit everyone who loves the app. One major feature that we are looking to add will be a feature for users to have the ability to connect with real-life trainers & nutritionalists for accountability. Subscribers will be able to try out multiple styles of workouts and recipes to find exactly who they want. From that point, users will get the chance to hire who they please and will be able to video call/chat with their new trainer/nutritionalist on customized schedule times all on the Deposit The Work Fitness App.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
What has worked well for me with networking is to always look to grow. I am constantly asking other people and users for feedback about my company and as well as discussing what other people are doing to grow themselves as well. After, I always sit back and digest what I’ve been told and try to apply it towards my goals in some sort of way that will be beneficial.
