Meet Camille Sumrall of Florativity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Sumrall.

Hi Camille, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have had a love of flowers and gardening from a young age. My knowledge of flowers and gardening came mainly from my mother’s and grandmother’s knowledge. Growing up, I was also a creative person. When it came to school, art was always my favorite subject. I was so focused on art and art classes, I would even ask my art teachers to work past class time and into my other classes. After college, I worked for several non-profit arts organizations but still needed a creative outlet. This is where my love of flowers came in. After providing flower arrangements for several donor events, I realized becoming a florist was my true passion as it combines my love for flowers and drives to be creative.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business was not an easy road. Beginning my business meant that I would work my full-time job and then go home to work another several hours on flowers each night. Aside from the physical time put into creating flowers, I would constantly be researching new techniques, flower costs, and not to mention the not so fun business side of things, including taxes and credit card fees. One of my biggest struggles was designing my website, one time I even made a huge mistake and completely disabled my site! Being a florist and small business owner means you are constantly learning new techniques, technologies, and trends, and sometimes your first attempt at a new technique or skill can fail. Owning a small creative business certainly has its highs and lows and you have to be really dedicated and love what you do to continue on.

Florativity is a floral and event décor business. We specialize in flowers for events, weddings, holidays and everyday arrangements. We also offer event décor rental and plants. We offer flower subscriptions, bouquet bars, and small gifts from local businesses to add on to flower arrangements. We work out of my home studio which allows us to offer a competitive price. We also offer destination event florals and will travel to the destination and work with local wholesalers to create beautiful flower arrangements. We care about all of our customers and go above and beyond for all of our orders. We love creating beautiful flowers and procuring unique event décor. Florativity is making the world a better place one flower at a time!

What makes you happy?
Flowers bring such a joy to me! The time it takes to grow flowers, their natural habitats, and their color and texture variety always inspires me and makes me elated. Seeing the joy on a customer’s face when we deliver flowers to them is something that makes your soul happy.
