Rising Stars: Meet Cameron Philgreen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Philgreen.

Hi Cameron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started shooting weddings during college and found I had a knack for it. People kept wanting me and kept paying! So I started a website and kept shooting. Then my sweet wife came along. She has an amazing eye for photo / video / design. We started shooting together. Then when we got married, we decided to quit our minimum wage jobs and do photo/video work full-time. That was 4.5 years ago. Since then, we have shot 200+ weddings and still love it. We feel like our calling in the wedding industry is not just to shoot weddings, but also to champion MARRIAGE – every day after wedding day too. We strongly focus on relationships, marriage, etc in our content and will continue to do so.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Biggest struggle has been working all day every day together as business partners/entrepreneurs, but also spouses. Learning when to turn off work, slow down and focus on each other has been a hurtle for us, but we have learned how to do it pretty well.

The biggest challenge RECENTLY has been figuring out travel with a newborn / infant! Our son is due June 12, and we are traveling/shooting all over the world during his first few months of life, so navigating that is a current struggle we are working through.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We do photography and videography, mostly for weddings. Weddings are definitely our specialty. Our work is bold, emotional, artistic, documentary, with a hint of fine art at times. Outside of photography, we are known mostly for two things: cheering on marriages and investing in real estate (haha kinda random, I know).

We are really excited about our calling to mentor / encourage / challenge / cheer on people in their marriage because we don’t see ANYONE else doing that. We interact with dozens and dozens of people in the “wedding industry” and don’t interact with many people in the “marriage industry” or “marriage ministry.” We want to be those people.

There are billions of dollars spent every year on weddings, and so much focus on wedding day (ONE DAY), and not a lot of money, time, focus, energy spent on the 50,000 days AFTER that.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Stay consistent, don’t give up. Be a life-long learner. Don’t stop learning and growing.
