Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Wiens.
Hi Emily, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been a passionate stylist in this incredible industry for 11 years now and I love every second of it! This was something I felt called to do from a young age. I took a windier road of getting there though with a quick 4-year stopover at the University of Kansas for a bachelors in accounting (don’t ask me for tax help)
Even though I knew this is what I was meant to do, I had no idea how much joy this industry would bring me. Not only do I get to use my creative side day in and day out, but the amazing relationships and connections I have made with my clients over the years is really what this is all about for me!
Over the past several years, I have truly made it my goal to consistently educate myself with all the current trends and techniques so as to consistently give my clients the highest level of service and style.
I specialize in Blondes and Extensions. One of my core beliefs is that each and every client should have the healthiest hair possible. I strive to always use the best products and techniques to allow for the healthiest result. Science and development in our industry is forever changing allowing for results that weren’t possible even five years ago.
Along with healthy beautiful hair, I am extremely passionate about living a healthy lifestyle so as to have even more time on this wonderful earth to spend with the ones I love. Life is all about balance but we only get this one life and this one body so let’s take care of it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have definitely experienced many ups and downs over the years but thankfully have managed to come back to a place where I feel fully passionate and fired up in my career. There were some years while working in a corporate salon environment where looking back, I see myself simply going through the motions and not really fully engaged in my career. About three years ago, I made the decision to really invest in myself and take ALL the classes I could fit in! This reignited my passion and I will continue this forever and ever because we can never have enough knowledge in this ever-changing industry!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have always been a creative person and enjoy art in all mediums. Paint, jewelry, fashion, design and more! Doing hair has always been my favorite way to express myself and make people smile! I specialize in lived in dimensional blondes and hand-tied hair extensions! My proudest moments are seeing the looks on my client’s faces when we transform their look and give them a whole new confidence boost!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have had so many cheerleaders along the way and am so incredibly thankful! My husband Drew Wiens is the most supportive human I know always picking up any slack and being my human sounding board as well as honorary creative director with photoshoots etc.
My parents Martha and Frank Bailey have also been my greatest cheerleaders always encouraging any path I chose! I started getting gray hair at a young age and my mom would pay for me to go to the salon and get the whole experience, I always promised to repay the favor and have been so happy to do so the past 11+ years!
Too many friends and other supporters to name and for that, I am forever grateful!
