Community Highlights: Meet Cindy Eldridge-Markley of Living Waters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Eldridge-Markley.

Hi Cindy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve had two professional loves in my life: teaching and psychology. I have been blessed to have pursued and engaged in both. As a teacher, I grew weary of families feeling comfortable with me and sharing their struggles. I didn’t have the tools to help them – except academically with their children. So, I went to grad school and got those tools. Personally, I’ve had one lifelong love: My relationship with God. I desired to combine these interests and through my own private practice, I offer evidence-based therapy techniques with an integrated faith-based counseling approach.

There is not one aspect of being a licensed professional counselor that I do not love. I have the privilege of meeting the best people in the worst of times. Having immersed myself in many areas of post-grad training has allowed me to specialize in a few areas to adequately help people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Back in the early 90’s I first began my journey of pursuing a master’s in counseling. That was cut short due to a demanding work schedule. During that time, I suffered many losses and terrible loneliness. The two decades that followed were rough years. I value those years and the scars because without them, I would not be able to empathize with clients to the degree that is needed. God took me through the desert. It was hot, dry, smelly, and downright awful at times. It seemed as if hope and dreams were not possible and faded. I learned through these times that I can trust God through anything. He alone is the reason that I am whole, He alone is capable of holding me and healing me completely. God is the lover of my soul. As he brought me out of that terribly dry season, I emerged with hope, joy and unimaginable faith. If God can bring me through loneliness, grief, singleness, emptiness, depression and feeling left behind – He can allow me to be the mouthpiece to help others find their way into their purpose with joy too.

As you know, we’re big fans of Living Waters. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m Cindy Eldridge-Markley, founder of Living Waters. My passion is helping people who have lost their sense of self-identity and belonging. Whether it stems from anxiety, shame, depression, codependency, trauma, or a toxic relationship, I will partner with you so you can begin reaching all your goals. Life is too short to settle for less than you dream!

Negative self-talk has become so normal that most of us can shred our entire worth in 3.2 seconds. We are so brutal to ourselves. We would never say the things we say to ourselves to someone else – in fact, that would horrify us. Yet almost daily, we betray ourselves and think nothing of it. Then we wonder why we are not happy, content or peaceful. Learn how to take control of the negative self-talk and beliefs and transform the way you feel about yourself. The longest relationship you will ever have is the one you have with you.

At Living Waters, the mission is to help you heal and grow by taking back your life one solid step at a time. Whether you are suffering from toxic relationships, depression, loneliness, anxiety, codependency, grief, or in need of couples counseling – our services can help you recover and instill hope back into your life. Evidence-based therapy techniques integrated with a faith-based counseling approach is used. I will walk beside you in your therapy journey towards a goal for a happier, healthier you. Don’t suffer silently anymore. Don’t settle by just getting by in life. You deserve better.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Many people spend a lot of money on marketing, networking and almost exhaust themselves trying to drum up business. I’ve found that for me, the key to success is keeping myself connect to God. If I will take the time to worship, pray, and read the Word of God, abide in Him – everything else takes care of itself. The most important thing to my success is staying in close friendship with Jesus Christ. He alone is the reason for success.

I named the practice Living Waters because of the scripture John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” That is how I feel as a counselor. I am able to give out what I have received.

Simply Put, Jesus Teachings Are the Living Waters. I am simply the vessel that allows God to stream through me to heal others as He healed me. It is the greatest privilege of my life.
