Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Knearem.
Hi Heather, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Array was born during a season of rebuilding in my life after my divorce. I found myself rediscovering who I was, and what I wanted my life to look like moving forward. Creating candles became a way for me to heal, find purpose, and reconnect with my creativity. Through that journey, the inspiration for Array was born.
I wanted to create candles that were not only beautiful and smelled amazing, but also carried meaning, personality, and a message. I wanted each candle to be an experience that could connect with people, evoke emotions, and bring a little love and light into their own lives.
As Array has grown, so have I, both personally and professionally. I’ve learned how to build a brand, connect with customers, and turn a creative passion into a business. I’ve had the opportunity to share Array with my community through local vendor markets and was even featured on KCTV5’s Hidden Gems morning show, which was an exciting milestone for me.
I’m incredibly proud of how far Array has come and what it represents. To me, Array is more than a candle brand. It’s a reminder that even through life’s hardest transitions, something beautiful can be created. It represents resilience, transformation, and rebirth, and the belief that sometimes, starting over is the beginning of something truly meaningful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I believe some of the most meaningful things come from the seasons that challenge us the most. There have been learning curves at every turn, from developing my products and building a brand to navigating marketing and figuring out how to grow a business from the ground up. There have been moments of uncertainty that pushed me outside my comfort zone and forced me to learn as I went along.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth takes patience, consistency, and a willingness to keep showing up, even when things don’t happen as quickly as you’d hoped. I’ve had to learn to trust the process, believe in what I’m creating, and give myself grace along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Array is a candle and home fragrance brand built around the idea of spreading love and light. I specialize in creating handcrafted soy-coconut wax candles that combine beautiful fragrances with personality, intention, and meaning. I want each product to create a special experience and bring a little more warmth and light into someone’s life.
What sets Array apart is the story and meaning behind the brand. My journey of rebuilding and rediscovering myself inspired me to create something that represents resilience, transformation, and new beginnings. Even the names of my candles, such as Phoenix Rising reflect the personality and message behind Array. I want each product to be more than just a beautiful scent, I want it to tell a story, evoke an emotion, or create a connection that resonates with the person experiencing it.
What I’m most proud of is taking something that began as a personal form of healing and turning it into a business that I can share with others. Watching Array grow, connecting with customers, and having opportunities to introduce my brand to a wider audience have all been incredibly rewarding. For me, success isn’t just about selling candles, it’s about creating something meaningful that reminds people that beauty can come from change, light can emerge from difficult seasons, and new beginnings can lead to something wonderful.
How do you define success?
For me, success is about so much more than what you accomplish or how much your business grows. It’s about who you become along the way, the lessons you learn, and the beauty you discover and all the moments in between. It’s about giving myself permission to pause, breathe, find peace, and celebrating even the smallest wins.
