Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Williams.
Hi Asia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for almost 11 years, but my love for hair started long before I ever became a stylist. My mom is a cosmetologist and was also an instructor, so the salon has always been a big part of my life. In fact, my very first job was working at the salon where my mom worked. I started out doing the little things cleaning tanning beds, sweeping up hair, helping around the salon, and just watching everyone work. I didn’t realize it at the time, but being in that environment and seeing my mom’s passion for the industry really shaped what I wanted for myself.
Eventually, watching her work and teach made me fall in love with doing hair too, and I decided to turn that passion into my own career. Over the last almost 11 years, I’ve grown so much not only as a stylist, but also as a business owner. I’ve continued investing in my education, perfecting my craft, building my clientele, and eventually taking the leap into salon suite ownership.
Today, I’m the owner of Opulence Salon Suite, where I’ve been able to create an experience that truly reflects who I am. I wanted my space to feel elevated and luxurious while still being warm, comfortable, and personal. I specialize in color, blonding, lived-in looks, extensions, and most importantly, making women feel confident and beautiful.
Looking back, it’s really special knowing that I went from sweeping hair and watching my mom work in the salon to now owning and building a salon business of my own. Almost 11 years into my career, I’m extremely proud of how far I’ve come, but I still feel like I’m just getting started. There’s so much more I want to learn, accomplish, and build within this industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to balance being a business owner, a hairstylist, and a mother. There have been seasons where I’ve had to make sacrifices, work long hours, and figure things out as I went, all while making sure I could still be present for my son.
Being self-employed also comes with its own challenges. There’s no guaranteed paycheck, so you have to learn how to build and maintain a clientele, market yourself, manage your finances, handle cancellations, and wear so many different hats outside of simply doing hair. There have definitely been slower seasons and moments where I questioned myself or had to adjust my plans.
I’ve also learned that growth sometimes requires you to get uncomfortable. Moving locations, rebuilding, investing back into my business and continuing my education have all required me to take risks and trust myself.
But I think those challenges have made me a stronger stylist, business owner, and woman. I’ve learned to be resilient, stay consistent, and keep going even when everything isn’t perfect. Every challenge has taught me something, and looking back, I’m grateful for how much those experiences have helped me grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Opulence Salon Suite, I specialize in customized blonding, lived-in and dimensional color, balayage, extensions, and healthy hair. I love creating beautiful looks that also fit my clients’ lifestyles and are realistic to maintain.
What I’m most proud of is the clientele and reputation I’ve built over almost 11 years. For me, it’s about more than just hair I genuinely value the relationships I’ve created with my clients and want every person in my chair to feel comfortable, confident, and cared for.
What sets me apart is the experience I provide. I’m intentional about continuing my education, staying current with techniques and trends, and customizing every service. My goal is for Opulence to feel luxurious yet welcoming, and for every client to leave feeling like the best version of herself.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to continue growing as a stylist and business owner while building Opulence into an even stronger brand. I want to continue expanding my clientele, perfecting my craft, and creating an experience that keeps my clients excited to come back.
One of my biggest long-term goals is to eventually open a salon suite of my own. I would love to create a beautiful space where other stylists can build their businesses and have an environment that feels professional, welcoming, and inspiring.
For now, I’m focused on continuing to grow, learning the business side of the industry, and setting myself up to eventually turn that vision into reality.
