Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Daniels.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been touring around the world for the last 11 years doing stand-up comedy. My show is a big variety show. I do stand-up, perform magic with audience members and also play the saxophone. Every day I’m learning new things about how to grow my act as well as how to be more relatable to audiences. I preform for small crowds in the 10’s and big crowds in the thousands. There is no such thing as too small of an audience. I always appreciate peoples time, that is all we have on this planet- so I always make sure they get the best show possible.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The entertainment business is a very hard business to break through and make a living in. I have been doing it full time on the road for the last 11 years, doing over 300 road dates a year. The biggest struggle is missing out on things with my family. I’m home for limited times a month. I don’t get to see my family as much as I would like to, on the flip side I see my extended family in other states more than I think I would if I was working a normal 9-5 job. I see my extended family usually twice a year, although I bet some of them are reading this thinking “we haven’t seen Jake in a year and a half!” *Laughs* I will be seeing you all soon. I promise. The other struggles when I first started it was hard to make a living. Thankfully, God has blessed me with patience, and the will to never give up.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in being very entertaining. If you give me your time, I truly believe you will have fun at my show. If you didn’t have fun please email me, I would like to know the exact reason so I can learn and continue to grow. I believe that everyone that attends my shows has a good time. It is my job to make sure of that. I want to make sure that it is not just half the room having fun, I want to make sure the whole room is having a great memorable experience.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I used to watch amazing Jonathon a lot. Unfortunately, he passed away. I tend to read any literature I can get my hands on. I’m constantly inventing new magic tricks, or writing and working on new material that is relatable to the audience.
