Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaine Jardon.
Hi Elaine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a teacher. Now I work with service-based businesses on their copy, messaging, and marketing strategy.
Teaching is about sharing the right message with the right person at the right time. So is marketing.
For a local home service business, that means showing up in the right neighborhood, at the right time in the season, with something worth saying.
I took on my first lawn care client expecting it to be a straightforward project. (It wasn’t.) And I loved that.
Every business and community is different. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, and I never get bored looking for the right one.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most marketing advice assumes you can sell to anyone, anytime, anywhere. But you aren’t treating for termites in Tampa if you’re based in Toledo. If you’re DIYing your marketing, it’s tough to sift through all the YouTube videos and online articles created for enterprise-level organizations or online businesses to find what strategies work locally.
Many of my clients are so busy with day-to-day operations marketing feels like one more thing added to their already-piled-high plate. I take care of strategy and implementation, from small projects like creating yard signs through full website overhauls, so your marketing attracts more customers and sells more services.
It’s one thing to have someone tell you what to do, but it’s another to have someone develop the strategy based on your business and your market, create the materials, and check in to see what’s working and what’s not.
We’ve been impressed with The Jardon Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When your business is local, your marketing strategy should be, too.
I work with service businesses to implement marketing strategies that help them sell more services to existing customers, turn every job into a lead source, and become the obvious choice in their areas.
My clients care about the work they do and who they do it for, and they often think their work should speak for itself. They don’t realize that with a few simple, repeatable strategies, they can fill their schedules and help more customers without endless posting on social media or spending more money on ads.
Trust is the most powerful marketing tool in the world. My clients have already earned it, and I help them put it to work. Together, we find your message, build your materials, and make them easy to use so you can keep your crew busy and phone ringing.
Your success is my success. If you don’t get more clarity, make more money, or get more business, then I haven’t done my job. I take that really seriously.
When we work together, you’re renting space in my brain. I think about your business while I’m cooking dinner, at the gym, and working in the garden. I’m a problem-solver by nature, and I love finding solutions that are creative and effective.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Since the early days of my business, I’ve sought out mentors who are ahead of me on the path. It’s incredibly valuable to learn from someone else’s lived experience. That’s also why I’m a product of my own product. I don’t just tell my clients to send postcards or ask for referrals. I do those same things myself.
Networking’s most effective when people quickly understand the problem you solve and who you solve it for. Donald Miller’s one-liner approach is my favorite way to figure out how to answer the “so what do you do?” question, and I use it with clients all the time.
