Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Nhingsavath.
Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My path to CTRL Creative Agency definitely wasn’t a straight line, and I think that’s a big part of why I approach business the way I do today.
For a long time, I thought my future would be in medicine. I worked in healthcare as a surgical assistant and was also in medical school with the goal of becoming a surgeon. I loved the idea of helping people and being part of something that could make a real difference in someone’s life.
Then COVID happened, and like it did for so many people, it made me reevaluate what I wanted my life and career to look like.
I realized that the desire to help people was still very much there, but I wanted to do it in a different way. I wanted more room to create, build, connect with people and use ideas as a way to make an impact. Instead of helping people medically, I started recognizing that I could help people creatively—especially business owners who had incredible ideas but didn’t always know how to communicate them, market them or get other people to notice what they were building.
Creativity had always been part of who I am. Photography, content, social media, branding and storytelling were things I naturally gravitated toward. What started as photography and creative projects gradually became people asking me for more: help with their content, social media, branding, events, websites and ultimately how to get more people paying attention to their businesses.
That’s when I realized I didn’t just enjoy creating content—I really enjoyed figuring out why something worked.
CTRL Creative Agency grew from that realization. Instead of simply taking photos or making a social media post, I started looking at the entire picture: Who is the audience? What makes this business different? What story are we telling? How do we turn attention into actual customers? And how do we create something sustainable instead of constantly chasing trends?
The name CTRL comes from the idea of “Control The Outcome.” We can’t control everything that happens in business or in life, but we can control how intentionally we prepare, how we position ourselves, how we show up and what we do next. That philosophy has become just as much a part of me personally as it is the agency.
One thing I’m especially proud of is that CTRL isn’t built around the idea that I have to do everything myself. I’ve developed a strong network of independent contractors and creatives who I can bring into projects based on what each client actually needs. That allows us to provide photography, video, design, digital strategy, web services and other creative solutions at different price points, so businesses with different budgets can still access quality creative work.
It also means that as CTRL grows, I’m able to create jobs and paid opportunities for other creatives. That part is incredibly important to me. I want to build an agency where collaboration is stronger than competition—where a client can come to us with a need, and I can build the right team around that project while giving talented people an opportunity to do what they’re great at.
Today, CTRL Creative has evolved into a creative marketing agency where I get to combine strategy, photography, video, branding, social media, digital marketing and business development. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside restaurants, entertainment venues, real estate professionals, contractors, entrepreneurs and other small businesses.
One of my favorite parts of the work is helping business owners see possibilities they may not have seen for themselves. Sometimes they come to me asking for social media help or a video, and the conversation turns into something much bigger—a new strategy, a repositioning of their brand or an entirely different vision for where their business could go.
In a way, I don’t think I ever stopped doing what originally drew me toward medicine. I still want to help people. I just discovered that my way of doing that was through creativity, strategy and helping people build something they believe in.
I’m still building, learning and evolving, and I actually hope that never stops. I don’t look at where I am today as the final destination. I look at it as proof that you’re allowed to change directions, take everything you learned from a previous chapter and use it to create something that feels more aligned with who you’ve become.
For me, CTRL Creative is bigger than marketing. It’s about helping people take control of how their story is told, helping businesses turn ideas into opportunities, and creating opportunities for other creatives along the way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped what CTRL Creative is today.
For years, I thought my future was in medicine. I worked as a surgical assistant and was in medical school working toward becoming a surgeon. After COVID, I realized I still wanted to help people, but in a more creative way. I moved to Colorado and went back to school to double major in business and marketing, which helped me turn my creative instincts into real strategy.
Starting over was difficult. I had to learn how to run a business, price my work, sell myself, handle inconsistent seasons, and stop trying to do everything alone.
One of the biggest lessons was realizing growth didn’t mean I had to personally handle every part of every project. I’ve built a strong network of independent contractors and creatives that I can bring in based on each client’s needs and budget. That allows CTRL to create more opportunities for creatives while making quality marketing more accessible to small businesses.
There have been plenty of no’s, wrong-fit clients, uncertainty and constant pivots, but those experiences taught me how to adapt.
That’s really what “Control The Outcome” means to me. You can’t control everything that happens, but you can control how you respond, how you prepare, and what you choose to do next.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
CTRL Creative Agency is a creative marketing agency built around one idea: Control The Outcome. We help businesses take greater control of how they’re seen, how they tell their story, and ultimately how they grow. Our work blends marketing strategy with social media management, photography, video content, branding, digital marketing, website support, event promotion and business development.
What sets CTRL apart is that we don’t believe in giving every client the same package. I look at the business, its audience, goals and budget first, then build a strategy around what will actually move the needle. We’ve worked across industries including restaurants and hospitality, entertainment, real estate, construction, professional services and entrepreneurship, so being able to adapt creatively is a major part of our brand.
I’m especially proud of the network we’re building around CTRL. I work with a strong team of independent contractors and creatives with different specialties, which allows me to assemble the right team for each project while creating paid opportunities for other creatives. It also helps us provide solutions for businesses at different budget levels without losing sight of quality or strategy.
At the end of the day, I don’t want CTRL to simply make businesses look good online. I want our clients to understand why we’re doing what we’re doing, see measurable growth from it, and feel like they finally have a creative partner invested in where their business is going.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say adaptability has been one of the most important qualities behind my success.
My career has taken me from healthcare and medical school, to studying business and marketing, to ultimately building CTRL Creative Agency. None of those transitions happened exactly as I originally planned, but I’ve learned how to take what each chapter taught me and apply it to the next one.
That same adaptability is important in marketing. Trends change, platforms change, client needs change, and sometimes the original plan simply doesn’t work. I’m willing to adjust quickly, learn something new, bring in the right people, and find another way forward instead of getting stuck on how something was “supposed” to happen.
To me, that’s also the heart of Control The Outcome—not controlling every circumstance, but being willing to adapt and make the most intentional next move.
