Hi Aundrèa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My Story: Where It All Began
My journey as a cosmetologist began in high school, when I started working as a shampoo girl at a local salon. What I initially thought would simply be a job shampooing hair quickly became an opportunity to reveal a hidden passion for cosmetology.
From removing extensions to detangling and blow-drying hair, I was trusted with tasks that went beyond what was typical for a teenage shampoo assistant. I had the privilege of working alongside three professional cosmetologists who saw something in me and took the time to teach, train, encourage, and pour into me. They nurtured my natural ability and constantly reminded me that I was one of the best shampoo girls they had ever had.
Looking back, that experience became the foundation of my career. I’m incredibly grateful for those early mentors because they didn’t just teach me the technical skills of cosmetology- they helped me recognize the gift within me and gave me the inspiration and confidence to pursue it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Road to Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is amazing- I love being my own CEO! But with that comes plenty of bumps, twists, turns, and lessons you can’t always prepare for. My faith in Jesus, along with the support of my husband, family and close friends, has sustained me through every season.
There were days I wanted to give up while navigating the challenges, fears, and doubts that come with building a business. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is about finding your pace, learning people, and most importantly, staying the course. You won’t have all the answers in the beginning, but experience truly is one of life’s greatest teachers. Every challenge has helped shape the entrepreneur I am today.

Growth Salon is a private luxury salon experience built around healthy hair, personalized care, and helping women feel confident in their hair. As a cosmetologist with over a decade of experience, I specialize in silk presses, extensions, custom wigs, color, and natural hair care.
What sets Growth Salon apart is the one-on-one experience. I’ve created a space where clients can receive high-end, personalized service in a private and comfortable environment while also receiving professional guidance for their hair’s health and growth.
I’m most proud of building a brand that represents more than beautiful hair. Growth is about evolution- helping each client embrace where they are while encouraging them to grow into where they’re going. My goal is for every client to leave not only loving their hair, but feeling confident, cared for, and inspired.
How do you think about happiness?
What Makes Me Happy
What makes me happiest is knowing that I can use the gifts God gave me to positively impact someone else. I love creating beautiful hair, but what means even more to me is seeing a client leave my chair feeling confident, beautiful, and renewed.
I also find joy in watching my business grow, becoming a better version of myself, and being surrounded by people I love. For me, true happiness is knowing that I’m walking in purpose, using my gifts, and allowing God to guide me through every season.
