Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Slutskiy.
Hi Jeff, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Dr. Jeff Slutskiy is a fourth generation dentist, dating back to his great-grandparents in the Soviet Union. He grew up in Los Angeles, CA and earned his DMD degree at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. He moved to Kansas City in 2019 and purchased Odessa Family Dental in Odessa, MO. Since then, he has grown his practice tremendously, adding a variety of specialty procedures including full mouth dental implants, Invisalign, and full mouth rehabilitations. In addition to growing his clinical practice, Dr. Jeff is one of the founding members of Dynamic Dental Services Group, a Kansas City based dental group entirely owned and operated by practicing dentists. DDS Group now has 10 locations and Dr. Jeff serves as Chief Dental Officer, focusing on mentoring younger doctors, coordinating continuing education, and striving to offer the highest level of care to their patients.
While Dr. Jeff has many non-clinical duties, he continues to practice, because he loves the impact he is able to make on his patients’ lives. Over the years, Dr. Jeff’s focus has shifted to full arch dental implants, where he is able to completely rebuild patient’s smiles and help them regain their ability to chew and eat the foods that they want. Dr. Jeff earned his Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in 2026, and continues to improve his skillset as techniques and technology in dentistry advance. He is proud to be able to treat a patient from start to finish, rather than forcing patients to bounce around multiple doctors to complete their treatment.
Outside of work, Dr. Jeff is married to his wife, Joey, and has two young children, Lara and Luka. They love to travel and try new foods. Dr. Jeff is Chiefs season ticket holder and rarely misses a game. They are currently building a house and love living in the Kansas City area!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a business is rarely a smooth road. If the road is smooth, then you aren’t really pushing yourself to grow. There have been challenges with employees, insurance companies, associate doctors, and partnerships that haven’t worked out. I am incredibly grateful for my partners, Dr. Peter McClellan and Dr. Danny Rome, who have been with me since we moved to KC. It is far easier to go through these struggles together than it would have been on my own. I am equally grateful for my wife, Joey, as she has been incredibly supportive as I have grown my business. These are underrated factors that sink many entrepreneurs who do not have the support structure I am lucky to have.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Odessa Family Dental?
Odessa Family Dental is a comprehensive general dentistry practice that also provides a full suite of specialty procedures. We offer everything from general dentistry, dental implants, wisdom tooth removal, Invisalign, root canals, dentures, and many other procedures. Dental implants are a big part of our practice, with my developing my own True Smile Protocol to ensure that our full arch dental implant patients receive truly custom smiles that best fit their faces. One of the things that truly sets us apart is that patients see one provider from start to finish, which is rare when these complex cases are concerned. By seeing my patients from start to finish, I am able to plan the cases with the end in mind and ensure that each patient is getting the treatment that they need. We do not offer “cookie cutter” treatment plans in our practice – each patient can feel confident that we will only recommend the treatment that is best suited for them.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
If you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life. It sounds corny, but it’s the truth. You don’t have to necessarily choose your absolute passion as your career choice, as this isn’t always feasible, but you should definitely try to carve out an area in your profession where you feel a sense of fulfillment. I feel fulfilled when I take care of my patients, and this shows when I speak to them. My team is filled with high performing members who are similarly fulfilled day to day, and this is evident when you come in to our practice.
