Meet Naum Lopez of KC MO Painting & Remodeling, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naum Lopez.

Hi Naum, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Before starting my business, I worked in the restaurant industry. It was a stressful job with long hours, and I spent most of my time indoors. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, the restaurants closed, and I suddenly found myself without a job.

Around that time, a friend invited me to help him with painting projects. I had no idea that opportunity would completely change my life. As I learned more about painting and remodeling, I discovered a passion for transforming homes and creating something people could truly enjoy.

In 2021, I decided to take a leap of faith and start KC MO Painting & Remodeling. I started with nothing more than a paintbrush, a roller, and a dream. My wife, Lissette Gomez, stood by my side from day one. Her faith in me and her constant support gave me the confidence to keep going, even during the toughest times. Together, we built the business one project at a time.

The journey hasn’t been easy. There have been challenges, long days, and moments of uncertainty, but every project has helped us grow and become better. Today, I’m proud of what we’ve built. We continue to serve homeowners with honesty, quality workmanship, and the goal of treating every home as if it were our own.

Looking back, losing my restaurant job felt like the end of one chapter, but it became the beginning of something much greater. I’m grateful for every customer who has trusted us and excited about what the future holds for KC MO Painting & Remodeling.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a business from scratch is challenging, especially when you don’t have a lot of money or experience running a company. In the beginning, I only had basic tools, and every new project was another opportunity to learn.

There were times when my wife and I struggled to cover even the basic household expenses. Those were some of the hardest moments because, as a business owner, you carry the responsibility of taking care of your family while trying to grow a company. There were days when we questioned how we were going to make it, but we never gave up.

One of the biggest challenges was earning people’s trust. As a new business, I had to prove myself with every project. I learned that the best way to grow was by doing quality work, being honest with customers, and standing behind everything we did.

As the business grew, I realized that doing great work wasn’t enough—people also needed to know we existed. I decided to invest in Facebook marketing, and that became an important turning point for our company. It helped us reach more homeowners, build our reputation, and little by little, our business started to grow.

Another challenge was learning how to run a business. Painting and remodeling are only part of the job. I also had to learn about estimating, scheduling, customer service, marketing, and managing the company. Every challenge has made me a better business owner.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey. Every struggle made us stronger, taught us valuable lessons, and reminded us that hard work, perseverance, and faith can take you further than you ever imagined.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
KC MO Painting & Remodeling, LLC is a family-owned business proudly serving homeowners throughout the Kansas City area. We specialize in interior and exterior painting, home remodeling, drywall, flooring, roofing, siding, trim work, and many other home improvement services. Whether it’s a small repair or a complete renovation, our goal is always to deliver high-quality workmanship and make the process as smooth as possible for our customers.

What sets us apart is the way we treat people. We understand that inviting someone into your home requires trust, and we never take that for granted. We believe in being honest, communicating clearly, showing up when we say we will, and treating every home with the same care and respect we would give our own.

I didn’t start this business just to paint houses or remodel homes. I started it to build something my family could be proud of and to create a company that people could truly rely on. Every project is an opportunity to earn our customers’ trust, and that’s something we value more than anything else.

One of the things I’m most proud of is how our business has grown. We started with very little, and today we’ve been blessed to complete many projects for homeowners across the Kansas City area. Much of our growth has come from satisfied customers who recommend us to their friends and family, and that’s the greatest compliment we can receive.

As we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to provide exceptional craftsmanship, honest service, and lasting relationships with every customer we have the privilege to work with. We are always learning, improving, and looking for new ways to better serve our community.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
“The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is that quality and relationships come first. When you focus on doing the job right the first time and taking care of the people in your community, everything else falls into place.”
