Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Browning.
Hi Jade, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Connected Voices was created from years of seeing a need that wasn’t being met. Between the two of us, Katy and I have spent our careers working in the schools, and have been a speech-language pathologist’s for nearly 10 years. Throughout that time, we’ve seen firsthand how many children who would benefit from early intervention aren’t identified until much later, when services could have made an even greater impact.
We have tremendous respect for school-based speech-language pathologists. However, many schools are facing increasing caseloads and limited resources, making it difficult to provide the individualized support every child deserves. We wanted to help bridge that gap by offering another avenue for families to access services and guidance.
In addition to working in the schools, we also work in hospitals and rehabilitation settings, where we see adults who need specialized swallowing and cognitive therapy after strokes, brain injuries, neurological conditions, and other medical diagnoses. Those experiences have shown us that quality speech therapy is needed at every stage of life, and many families simply don’t know where to turn or what services are available.
We created Connected Voices to give back to our community from a place of knowledge and experience. Our goal has always been to make speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive services more accessible while serving as a trusted resource for families. We want parents and caregivers to know they don’t have to navigate concerns alone. Whether someone ultimately receives services through us, through their school, through home health, or another provider, we’re always happy to answer questions and help guide them toward the resources that best fit their needs.
At the heart of Connected Voices Co. is a simple mission: to ensure that every child and adult has access to high-quality speech therapy and the resources they need to thrive. We believe every individual deserves the opportunity to communicate effectively and live as independently as possible, and we’re honored to be part of that journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting Connected Voices has been incredibly rewarding, but like any new business, it hasn’t been without challenges. Building awareness has been one of our biggest hurdles. Many families don’t realize speech-language pathologists treat far more than speech, they also help with language development, feeding, swallowing, cognition, voice, and many other communication disorders. Helping educate our community about the many ways speech-language pathologists can support children and adults has become an important part of our journey.
Another challenge has been balancing our passion for serving others with the many responsibilities of running a business. Between continuing to work in schools, home health, and rehabilitation settings while also building Connected Voices, we’ve learned to wear many hats. Beyond providing therapy, we’ve had to learn marketing, networking, business operations, and the lengthy process of becoming credentialed with insurance companies so we can bill insurance and make services more accessible. It’s been a steep learning curve, but one that’s been incredibly rewarding.
There are definitely challenges, but they’re easy to forget when we get to celebrate our clients’ successes. Seeing a child gain confidence, helping an adult return to the activities they love, or simply giving a family peace of mind makes all the hard work behind the scenes worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Connected Voices Co.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Connected Voices Co. is a private speech-language pathology practice dedicated to helping children and adults communicate with confidence and live more independently. We provide individualized speech, language, feeding, swallowing, voice, and cognitive therapy in the comfort of our clients’ homes, schools, daycares, and through teletherapy when appropriate.
What sets us apart is our commitment to meeting families where they are, not just physically, but emotionally as well. We know that navigating speech therapy services can feel overwhelming, so we strive to be a trusted resource from the very first conversation. Whether a family needs an evaluation, guidance on school services, or simply answers to their questions, we’re always happy to help point them in the right direction, even if that means referring them to another provider. We also offer free screenings and consultations because we believe every family deserves access to expert guidance, regardless of where they ultimately receive services.
Between the two of us, we have experience working in schools, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and private practice. That allows us to provide comprehensive care for a wide variety of speech, language, swallowing, voice, and cognitive needs while collaborating with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.
Above all, we’re most proud of the relationships we’ve built with the families we serve. Our goal isn’t just to provide therapy. We want to educate, empower, and support every family who trusts us with their care. We believe everyone deserves access to high quality, evidence based speech therapy, and we’re honored to be a small part of each person’s journey.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that surprises people is how broad the field of speech-language pathology really is. While many people associate us with helping children say their sounds correctly, we also work with feeding, swallowing, cognition, voice, and communication after medical events like strokes and brain injuries. Another surprise is that we’re always happy to answer questions and help families navigate their options, even if they never become clients. Our mission has always been bigger than providing therapy. We want to be a trusted resource for our community.
