Today we’d like to introduce you to DeeAnna Anderson.
DeeAnna , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I actually just celebrated my five years in business which is HUGE + feels like a lot has changed in two years, since our last interview.
What began as a passion for creating calm + functional spaces has grown into something so much bigger.
Simple solutions became a reality to me whenever my daughter was getting ready to start kindergarten. I was at the time, working corrections and I remember the heartbreak I felt after realizing that I would go in before she even woke up in the morning which meant I wouldn’t be the one getting her ready or taking her to school and I would be getting home after she was already in bed. I remember, I was a scheduled the day of her open house and the thought of missing out on so many of these moments and not being present for her during these exciting, short years was just not an option for me. I was lying in bed the week before school started in tears, wondering how I could make it work. Knowing there had to be a different way. I started applying for countless jobs that I cared nothing about so that I could show up for her. I left the jail, that I truly loved, took a huge pay cut, and started working a M-F, 9-5. This was of course what I thought I wanted, I could take her to school and be home in the evenings and weekends but quickly realized, now I wasn’t showing up for myself. I was clocking in everyday to a job I hated. I was so unhappy and constantly trying to find ways to fill the void. You know, this was around the time of Covid. So life in general was just isolating. Everyone was home and organization kind of blew up on tiktok. And the home edit came out and EVERYONE was talking about it. I kind of thought, Interior decorating and organization has always been a huge passion of mine. Maybe this could be something? So without a single thought, I randomly started sharing projects I did in my personal home on social media. This quickly started getting attention, and I was practically a business owner overnight. The demand was so high, I jumped in head first and just never looked back.
Every project, every referral, every client who invited me through their front door has helped shape the story of Simple Solutions.
I can’t believe I still get to do what I love everyday AND be present in my home life – it’s insane to me that my daughter starts middle school this year and this really was all for her.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. I had no idea where simple solutions would take me or how much I would learn along the way. There have been plenty of moments of uncertainty, figuring out how to run a business, learning to market myself, navigating inconsistent seasons, and, honestly, learning to believe in the value of what I bring to the table.
One of the biggest challenges has been growing the business while still staying true to why I started it in the first place. I never wanted Simple Solutions to just be about making a space look pretty or getting a home organized. I wanted to create spaces that genuinely make people feel better about being home.
There have been seasons where I’ve had to pivot, say yes to opportunities that pushed me outside my comfort zone, and learn from things that didn’t go as planned. But looking back, those challenges have shaped the business just as much as the successes have. They’ve taught me to trust myself, keep showing up, and be open to where the business is growing next.
I think the biggest lesson has been that building something of your own isn’t about having it all figured out, it’s about continuing to move forward, even when you don’t.
As you know, we’re big fans of Simple Solutions . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My services range from Home Organization and Interior Decorating/styling to holiday installs – more recently, I have started home staging with Dwell in the house.
I think what sets Simple Solutions apart is that I’m not interested in creating spaces that simply look good. I want your home to feel like you. comfortable, functional, inviting, and lived in.
Whether I’m completely transforming a room, organizing a space, or adding those finishing touches that make a house feel like home, I’m always looking at the bigger picture.
At the heart of Simple Solutions, it really is about more than decorating or organizing.
It’s about creating spaces that make everyday life feel a little easier, calmer, and more enjoyable. The goal has always been to help people love coming home.
