Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Vargas.
Hi Megan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
How I’m Winning KC Started ❤️
In 2021, I experienced a level of burnout that I had never felt before.
I was a mom, a business owner, a woman trying to take care of everyone around me while also trying to keep myself together. I was constantly giving, constantly showing up, and somewhere along the way, I realized I had lost a little bit of myself.
I knew something had to change.
In 2022, I created I’m Winning KC.
It started with a simple idea. Create a space where everyday women could come as they are, share their stories, build genuine connections, and remind each other that our wins matter too.
Since then, I’m Winning KC has grown into monthly meetups, our Walk It Out walks, and videos highlighting real women and their real stories. No perfect lives. No pretending to have it all figured out. Just women showing up, supporting one another, and celebrating how far we’ve come.
What started from one of the hardest seasons of my life has become something I’m incredibly proud of.
I created I’m Winning KC because I needed it.
And now, I get to watch other women find community, confidence, friendship, and their own definition of what winning means.
Sometimes your hardest season becomes the beginning of something beautiful.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were times when I felt like I didn’t have the support I needed. Times when I questioned whether people really understood the vision. I had to constantly come up with new ideas, figure out what would connect with women, and find ways to keep people engaged.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is really centered around people, connection, confidence, and creating opportunities for others to feel seen and supported.
I wear a lot of hats. I’m a community leader, entrepreneur, nonprofit founder, program manager, and the founder of I’m Winning KC. Across everything I do, my focus is creating spaces where people can grow, connect, and recognize their own potential.
What sets me apart is that I don’t believe in simply talking about empowerment. I believe in creating opportunities for people to actually experience it.
I’m not afraid to start something from the ground up, even when I don’t have all the answers. I’m willing to keep showing up, find new ideas, listen to what people need, and evolve along the way.
At the heart of everything I do is one belief: when you help people see their own worth, you create a ripple effect that reaches far beyond one person.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the quality that has been most important to my success is resilience. I’ve learned how to keep going even when things don’t go as planned, when the support isn’t there, or when I’m questioning myself.
I’ve had seasons of burnout, business changes, personal challenges, and moments where I had to start over. What has carried me through is my ability to adapt, learn, and keep showing up.
I don’t always have the perfect plan, but I’m willing to figure it out. I believe in the vision, even when other people may not see it yet. Most importantly, I’ve learned that success isn’t about never struggling. It’s about continuing to move forward, growing through the struggle, and not giving up on yourself.
