Today we’d like to introduce you to Imene McCoy.
Imene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I founded Savvy Bridal in 2013 with a simple mission: to create an elevated bridal shopping experience where every bride feels seen, celebrated, and confident. Over the last 13 years, that vision has grown into multiple bridal boutiques across the country, serving thousands of brides while building a team and brand I’m incredibly proud of.
As our business grew, I began noticing a significant gap in the bridal industry. Not every bride has six to eight months to wait for a made-to-order gown, and not every bride has a $2,000–$4,000 budget. Some are planning weddings on shorter timelines, some have changed their wedding date, and many are simply looking for a beautiful designer gown at a more accessible price point.
That’s what inspired Vow Ready.
We created Vow Ready to give brides a boutique experience without the long wait or the higher price tag. It’s an off-the-rack bridal concept featuring designer gowns that brides can purchase and take home the very same day. Our goal was to prove that shopping off the rack doesn’t mean compromising on quality, style, or the experience. Every bride deserves to feel celebrated, regardless of her budget or timeline.
Today, Vow Ready allows us to serve an entirely new segment of brides while staying true to the values that built our company: exceptional service, beautiful gowns, and creating unforgettable moments. It’s one of the most rewarding chapters of my entrepreneurial journey because we’re making the bridal experience more accessible without sacrificing what makes it special. And we’re only getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. Entrepreneurship rarely follows the plan.
We built and launched Vow Ready in less than 60 days, which was an incredible challenge on its own. Then, during what was supposed to be our opening week, we discovered a major plumbing issue that forced us to delay opening by nearly three weeks.
To make things even more challenging, we were opening in January in the Midwest—arguably one of the toughest times of year to launch a bridal business. Between freezing temperatures, snowstorms, construction delays, and the pressure of getting a brand-new concept off the ground, there were plenty of moments that tested us.
But we stayed focused, adapted quickly, and kept moving forward. By the end of January, we officially opened our doors, and we honestly haven’t come up for air since. The response from brides has exceeded every expectation we had. We’ve been booked and busy from the start, and Vow Ready has significantly outperformed our original projections.
That experience reinforced something I’ve learned over and over as an entrepreneur: there will always be obstacles, but success belongs to the businesses that are willing to adapt, solve problems quickly, and keep showing up.
We’ve been impressed with Vow Ready, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Vow Ready is redefining what it means to shop for an off-the-rack wedding dress. We believe brides shouldn’t have to choose between affordability, convenience, and an unforgettable experience—they deserve all three.
We specialize in designer off-the-rack wedding gowns that brides can purchase and take home the very same day. Our collection is thoughtfully curated to offer exceptional quality and style at a fraction of the cost of traditional made-to-order bridal gowns, making us the perfect destination for brides on a tighter budget, a shorter timeline, or those who simply don’t want to wait months for their dress.
One of the things that makes Vow Ready truly unique is where our inventory comes from. We hand-select the very best gowns from our Savvy Bridal Collective locations, keeping only the most on-trend, sought-after styles. That means our brides don’t have to sacrifice style because of their budget. They still have access to designer gowns that feel current, fashion-forward, and luxurious—just at a more accessible price point.
What truly sets us apart is the experience. From the moment a bride walks through our doors, she’s treated with the same level of care, celebration, and personalized styling you’d expect from a luxury bridal boutique. We don’t believe shopping off the rack should feel like shopping a clearance rack. It should feel intentional, elevated, and unforgettable.
As an extension of Savvy Bridal, we’ve taken over 13 years of bridal expertise and created a concept that fills a major gap in the industry. We combine boutique-level service with immediate gratification, allowing brides to say “yes” to the dress and leave with it the very same day.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve made the bridal experience more accessible without compromising the magic. Every bride—regardless of her budget, wedding date, or circumstances—deserves to feel beautiful, celebrated, and confident. That’s the heart of Vow Ready, and it’s the standard we strive to deliver every single day.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
People often assume opening Vow Ready was a huge risk because it’s located just five minutes from our flagship Savvy Bridal store. In reality, it was a calculated decision backed by years of experience.
About six years ago, I launched a small off-the-rack concept in Lawrence, Kansas, called Simply Savvy. At the time, I was overwhelmed with inventory and tired of hosting sample sales that disrupted the experience at Savvy Bridal. I wanted to test whether there was a market for a boutique dedicated exclusively to off-the-rack designer gowns, so I signed a short-term lease.
The response was phenomenal.
The challenge wasn’t demand—it was that brides were shopping both locations, and managing inventory between two stores under the same brand became increasingly difficult. When the lease ended, I made the decision to close Simply Savvy, consolidate the inventory back into Savvy Bridal, and focus on building our dream flagship location.
As Savvy Bridal continued to grow, another challenge emerged. Bridal retail is incredibly space-dependent. Inventory is constantly changing, and if you want to run a smart, sustainable, and profitable business, dresses need to move quickly. There’s only so much square footage available, and every gown sitting on the rack represents capital that could be reinvested into fresh inventory.
That’s when I realized the timing was right to bring the concept back—but this time, bigger, better, and with its own identity.
Vow Ready wasn’t built on a gamble. It was built on data, experience, and lessons learned from Simply Savvy. We knew there was demand. We simply needed a stronger brand, a more refined customer experience, and a business model that complemented Savvy Bridal instead of competing with it.
For me, that’s what smart risk-taking looks like. It’s not making impulsive decisions—it’s learning from past experiences, recognizing when the market is ready, and having the confidence to execute at the right time.
