Hi J-Hu$$lanaire, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born & raised in Kansas City, Missouri, I started the journey of doing music when I was 5 years old. I got inspired by Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg ‘Nuthin But a G Thang’. I started with just learning the basics of how to rhyme words together. I didn’t get to the lyric aspect of it til I turn 9 years old. What got me leaning how to write an actual song was studying how lyrics are made in the Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ Vinyl album. On the sleeve that protects the vinyl had the lyrics to every song on that album and I studied every chance I got. From the age of 9 to 16, I use to record random vocals on a tape recorder to find my voice and critique how I deliver my vocals at certain points in a song. At age 16 (early 2007), I recorded my first song. At age 18 (2008) released my first mixtape project “Platinum Focused”. From age 19 to age 25, I was in a group with my 2 brothers and a handful of cousins (AFNF ‘All Family, No Friends’) recording a countless amount of records and done about 8 shows that got us some movement within the metro community. I also started beat making at the age of 21 (2011). At Age 28 (2018), I released my first album “The Come Up”. In early 2019, I established my solo indie record label ‘T.I.M.E. Music’ (T.I.M.E. – This Is My Effort). From 2019 to 2026, I’ve made over 20 singles, 5 mixtapes (2019-“Vol. 1: T.I.M.E. [This Is My Effort]”; 2020-“Vol. 2: B.O.S.S. [Built On Self Success]”; 2022-“Vol. 3: My E.N.D. [Effort never Dies]”; 2023-“J-Walk” & “Platinum Focused 2”) and 4 albums (2025-“Boarding…”; 2026-“Something Else”, “W.E.I.R.D. [We Eat In Right Directions]” and “Above & Beyond”) I have a 4th album installment releasing in the fall of this year (2026) called “4th Quarter”. Any further details about that album will be announced as it gets closer to release date.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to getting where I’m at had its bumps and bruises, but it was well worth it. Things like communications with other artists, podcasters, bloggers, etc. is a hassle due to aligning the time to work together on something. Sometimes traveling expenses to do shows, picking the right song for the right project when you record multiple records to pick from. Making the right content, making the right promotions, and so forth. What makes it all worth it is knowing that I can do whatever I want, when I want, and how I want without answering to anybody. Not to sound selfish with it, but everything I have my hands on is all me. 100% self made, 100% ownership.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Hip-Hop artist, record label owner, beat producer, studio engineer, songwriter, and a motivational/inspirational speaker. What I’m most proud of out of everything is just stepping my best foot forward with doing the music and it inspiring people. Cause whether I got a lot of ears or just a few listening, the fact that somebody is peeping game to what I put on wax and it inspires them to just go out do what they love to do, says a lot to me. And I’ll forever be grateful for that. I think what sets me apart from other artists that’s doing music is always doing what’s on my heart and thinking outside the box when it comes to doing what’s outside of what you usually hear on the radio or streaming platforms. Anytime I get a good feedback from fans that’s really tuned in or when I get told I’m something different or something else, I know I’m doing something right.
Any big plans?
Just more music at the moment. Challenging myself to continue to get greater and greater as each day comes. I’m also looking to get this clothing line I had mapped out since 2021 up and running within 5 years. Anything else major? You’ll just have to keep your eyes open for that when it comes.
