Today we’d like to introduce you to Braley White.
Hi Braley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, my husband and I found out we were expecting our second child, which we were over the moon about. I quickly realized that Social Work would always be there for me to go back to, but my children’s childhood wouldn’t. I didn’t care what we had to do to make it happen, but I wanted to be the one who witnessed their chapters. The longing for wanting to preserve every milestone and moment of theirs made me want to spread that joy and gift for other moms, and that’s how K&P Photography came about.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has had some bumps along the way. Something I am very passionate about is that my family would and will always come before the business, but I haven’t always followed through with that. There have been some long nights, missed moments with my own crew, guilt, just to name a few. Everything that I overcame was not possible without God, my husband, and our family in general. The belief they’ve always had in me, support they always give me, gets me through any trial I ever face.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer who specializes in Motherhood. I think anyone can pick up a camera and snap a few photos, but it takes an artist to not only see what is in front of them, but to feel it as well. To take a very mundane moment, freeze it in time, and take their clients breath away when they get it back. Giving moments that are sometimes overlooked back to my clients is something I’ll never get over or take for granted.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Just start. There is so much joy in preserving a memory and becoming really good at it. Don’t wait until you have the expensive gear, use your phone, use a disposable camera, just start. I wish I would’ve taken to heart that I don’t have to try so hard to create a picture worthy moment, that so many moments in your day can be so beautiful, and are so deserving of being captured with a camera.
