Check Out Lindsey Ritoch’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Ritoch.

Hi Lindsey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, my name is Lindsey Ritoch. I’m 23 years old and am an independent nail technician working in the heart of Independence.

After I graduated high school, I planned to be an illustrator and concept designer but life took a turn and I found myself working an office job at a small company. I grew up in an entrepreneurial family and knew I wanted something of my own that would provide me with not just financial freedom but my own time management and schedule. At the time, I began doing my nails from home and quickly found myself enjoying the art and skill. Soon after, I discovered luxury press on businesses and decided to quit my job and launch my own business, which I owned and operated for 2 years full time. After spending that time with mentors, building business skills and doing deep dives in the industry, I found there to be a massive demand for educated nail techs who cared for the health and safety of their clients. This sparked a new avenue for my business and a place where I felt I could really make a difference.

I decided to pull back on my press on business and enroll myself into nail school. After completing the required time, I got licensed and landed my first job at Beauty Brands where I spent 2 more years really honing my craft and building my clientele.

In February 2026, I decided it was time to take the leap back to working for myself and finally going independent. It was by far the scariest business decision but after just 4 months, I’m now fully booked and blessed with the best clientele a tech could ask for.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In my experience, nothing about starting your own business is linear. I have to be honest and say you have your moments where you’re both having the time of your life and also wanting to throw in the towel. My biggest struggle was just not knowing where to start and being reminded that it’s just me running the show. Holding yourself accountable and having not just passion but discipline are all aspects you need to make it. Some days I’m dead tired and others I leave being reminded why I started it all.

Having supportive people helped make the process smoother and I couldn’t be more grateful to not just my family but another lovely nail tech I met along the way who had already gone through the process.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in soft/hard gel services, hand painted nail art, and health and safety. I primarily help clients grow their natural nails so they don’t have to rely on heavier products or extensions. I’m most proud of my ability to offer a safe and comfortable place that clients can always trust. My mission is to make sure every client leaves satisfied and valued.

I like to think my passion and artistic skillset sets me apart from other nail technicians. I’ve been an artist my whole life and have definitely not strayed from that in my nail work. Additionally, I don’t believe that every service is a “one-size-fits-all” and will always exhaust everything I know or have to find something that works well for each client’s lifestyle or nail type.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to build relationships with clients and call them friends is something that bring me a lot of joy and fulfillment in this job. I know that the appointments that they schedule is something that we both look forward to every couple weeks and that’s what keeps me going most days. I also feel blessed every day that I’m able to financially afford to be an artist for a living. It has always been who I am and to know this skillset brings other people joy, makes it feel a little more worth it every day.
