Meet Tabbetha Oakes of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabbetha Oakes.

Hi Tabbetha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in middle school, modeling for my older sister because she needed a portfolio for college, to be a photographer. I took a break and tried to have a family after getting out of high school, I started back up with the modeling after having my daughter, and have been doing it since, 3 years ago I got signed on to my agency, and in the past 3 years I have accomplished to be in movies, music videos, merch deals, several collaborations, fashion shows, magazines, museums, and I’m currently working on adding realtor to the list.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve definitely had my own trials and tribulations, I had lost my son, due to genetic conditions he got from both me and his father, I ended up becoming a single, only mother to my daughter, and have lost friends and family members, I have lost job opportunities because I have choose to focus on building myself rather than another company that’s not seeing my value, I have had to fight tooth and nail to keep what I have, as well as gain what I desire. It’s all worth it in the end though and there’s always a lesson in everything you go through.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in modeling, acting, and design. I dabble in photography, art, singing, I am also willing to learn, expand my skills, and knowledge. I have a vision of what I want for my life, and I constantly take steps towards bettering my life and creating my paradise, no matter what’s going on in my life.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I can see the changes in my industry happening in real time, the industry is becoming more accepting, I think it’s beautiful that anyone, no matter what they look like, sound like, come from, can make their dreams come true as an entrepreneur, if you work hard enough and take your life seriously, you will see the progress and changes. I think in the next 5-10 years, that the celebrity/entrepreneur industry will be so inspiring to the everyday person, to just be their authentic true self, and to love themselves for who they are. Rather than trying to fit into the same box.
