Today we’d like to introduce you to The Arc Collective.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our story began over a decade ago when we met as psychology students at Northwest Missouri State University. Through graduate school, the early years of our careers, and a friendship that quickly became family, we often found ourselves dreaming about creating the kind of therapy practice we wished existed, a place where people felt genuinely seen, supported, and at home.
That dream became reality in February 2023 when we opened our practice. Over the past three years, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of individuals, couples, and families through pregnancy, postpartum, trauma, relationships, parenting, and life’s biggest transitions. Those experiences have shaped us just as much as they’ve shaped our practice.
As we’ve grown, we’ve become even more intentional about who we are and the care we provide. That led us to rebrand as The Arc Collective, a name that better reflects our belief in collaborative, specialized care and the many chapters our clients navigate throughout life.
This spring, we moved into a newly renovated office that finally feels like home and welcomed Brooke Keown to our collective. Watching our vision grow from two best friends with a dream into a collaborative practice has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re grateful every day for the clients, referral partners, and community that have trusted us along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but looking back, we wouldn’t change any of it. Building a business while also caring for clients has stretched us in ways we never expected. We’ve learned that being a great therapist doesn’t automatically make you a great business owner, you have to be willing to learn, adapt, and grow in both roles.
One of the biggest lessons has been trusting ourselves enough to evolve. Over the past three years, we’ve made difficult decisions, said no to opportunities that didn’t align with our vision, and continually refined what we wanted The Arc Collective to become. We’ve learned that growth isn’t always about getting bigger. Sometimes it’s about becoming more intentional.
That mindset has shaped every decision we’ve made, from rebranding our practice and renovating a space that truly feels like home to welcoming Brooke into our collective. Every challenge has helped us build something that feels more authentic, more collaborative, and more aligned with the kind of care we want to provide.
We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re even more excited about where we’re headed.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At The Arc Collective, we provide specialized therapy for women, children, adolescents, couples, and families, with expertise in women’s mental health, trauma recovery, relationships, pregnancy and postpartum, miscarriages, grief and loss, parenting, OCD, ADHD, and life transitions. Each clinician brings unique specialties, allowing us to offer thoughtful, individualized care while collaborating closely as a team.
What we’re most proud of isn’t just the work we do, it’s the experience we’ve created. We believe therapy should feel deeply human. From the moment someone walks through our doors, our hope is that they feel safe enough to take a deep breath, be themselves, and know they don’t have to navigate life’s hardest seasons alone.
We also believe exceptional care happens through collaboration. Rather than working in isolation, we genuinely enjoy consulting with one another, sharing perspectives, and connecting clients with the clinician who best fits their needs. That team-based approach allows us to provide more personalized care while ensuring every client feels supported.
Ultimately, we want The Arc Collective to be known as a place where people feel seen, where relationships matter, and where clinical excellence and genuine connection go hand in hand.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of the things we love most about Kansas City is how collaborative it is. There’s a genuine sense of community here, you see local businesses cheering each other on, wellness professionals working together, and people who truly want to see one another succeed. As therapists, that means a lot to us because collaboration is one of the core values we’ve built The Arc Collective around.
We also love watching the city continue to grow. There are always new coffee shops to try, incredible local restaurants, beautiful small businesses to support, and more wellness-focused spaces opening every year. Between the Chiefs, the Royals, the World Cup, and yes…the city where Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s story began, Kansas City has definitely earned its spot on the map.
As for what we’d change? We have just one request: could someone scoot the ocean a little closer? We absolutely love Kansas City, but we’ll never turn down a beach getaway. Until then, we’ll happily settle for planning our next coastal vacation.
