Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Marsalla.
Hi Brooke, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t start my career in real estate. Before making the transition, I spent nearly 15 years in corporate sales, where I learned the importance of relationships, communication, and truly taking care of people. When the world changed in 2020, it became clear that I needed to make a change too. As a single mother raising three daughters, I wasn’t looking for an easy path. I was looking for a future I could build and control.
Real estate had always been an interest of mine. I bought my first home at 21 and quickly realized how powerful homeownership could be in creating opportunities and building wealth. I’d often talked about how much I enjoyed real estate, and during that season, my boyfriend, Kareem, encouraged me to take the leap. He saw strengths in me that aligned perfectly with the industry and reminded me that sometimes the biggest opportunities come when you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone. Looking back, that encouragement, combined with the uncertainty of 2020, gave me the confidence to bet on myself and pursue a career I’d always been drawn to.
Starting over wasn’t easy. I was learning a completely new industry while building a business from the ground up and raising three girls. There were plenty of long days, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty, but I committed myself to learning everything I could. Every challenge became an opportunity to grow, and every client taught me something new. I didn’t have someone showing me exactly what to do, so I immersed myself in contracts, construction, negotiations, floor plans, and every aspect of the business until I became an expert in my craft.
Today, I’m proud to be one of the top-producing agents on the Rob Ellerman Team at ReeceNichols, serving clients throughout Kansas and Missouri. In just five years, I’ve helped more than 238 families buy and sell homes while surpassing $86.8 million in career sales. I specialize in new construction, resale, luxury homes, and relocation, and I’ve had the privilege of hosting American Dream TV’s Selling Kansas City, where I showcase not only exceptional homes but also the businesses and communities that make Kansas City such an incredible place to call home.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been mentoring and coaching other real estate professionals. I know what it’s like to start from scratch, and helping others build successful, sustainable businesses has become a passion of mine. I believe there’s room for all of us to succeed, and I love sharing what I’ve learned along the way.
More than anything, though, my career has never been about the numbers. It’s about people. Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions someone will ever make, and I want every client to feel informed, supported, and confident from our first conversation to the closing table and beyond.
When I look back at where I started, I’m most proud that my daughters have had a front-row seat to the journey. They’ve watched me take risks, overcome challenges, and build a business through resilience, hard work, and perseverance. I hope they’ve learned that your circumstances don’t define your future. If you’re willing to believe in yourself, put in the work, and refuse to give up, there’s no limit to what you can accomplish.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think the most meaningful journeys ever are.
Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced moments of uncertainty, setbacks, and seasons where I questioned whether I was on the right path. Building a business from the ground up meant wearing every hat, working long hours, and learning through both successes and failures. Real estate is an industry where you quickly learn that not every deal comes together, not every client is the right fit, and there are circumstances completely outside of your control.
Personally, I’ve also walked through challenges that have shaped who I am. Those experiences taught me resilience, strengthened my perspective, and reminded me that growth often comes from the hardest seasons. Instead of allowing those moments to define me, I’ve chosen to let them refine me.
Today, I view every obstacle as an opportunity to learn, improve, and serve others at a higher level. Those challenges have made me more empathetic with my clients, more intentional in my business, and more grateful for every family that trusts me during one of the biggest milestones of their lives.
Success isn’t about avoiding adversity. It’s about deciding that adversity won’t determine your future.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Realtor licensed in both Kansas and Missouri, specializing in new construction, resale homes, luxury properties, relocation, and strategic market positioning. Over the past five years, I’ve been fortunate to help more than 238 families buy and sell homes while surpassing $86.8 million in career sales. I also have the privilege of hosting American Dream TV’s Selling Kansas City, where I get to showcase not only beautiful homes but also the people, businesses, and communities that make Kansas City such a special place to call home.
What I’m most proud of isn’t the sales volume or awards. It’s the relationships I’ve built and the trust my clients place in me during one of the biggest decisions of their lives. Many of my clients become repeat clients, friends, and referral partners, and that’s something I never take for granted.
I believe what sets me apart is the experience I create. I combine a high level of communication, market expertise, and strategic guidance with a genuine commitment to putting my clients first. Whether I’m helping a first-time buyer, marketing a luxury listing, or guiding someone through a new construction build, I want every client to feel informed, supported, and confident from start to finish.
At the end of the day, real estate is about more than buying and selling homes. It’s about helping people build the life they envision, and I consider it an honor to be part of that journey.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success rarely happens alone. Finding the right mentors and building a strong network can accelerate your growth in ways you can’t accomplish by yourself.
For me, the best mentors have been people who were willing to challenge me, hold me accountable, and share both their successes and failures. I wasn’t looking for someone to give me all the answers. I wanted to learn from people who had already achieved what I was working toward. I also believe mentorship is a two-way relationship. Show up prepared, ask thoughtful questions, follow through on advice, and always look for ways to add value in return.
Networking has been most successful for me when I’ve focused on building genuine relationships instead of simply collecting contacts. Some of the greatest opportunities in my career have come from consistently showing up, supporting others, and staying connected long after the initial introduction.
Today, I’m fortunate to give back by mentoring and coaching other real estate professionals. Watching others grow their confidence, build successful businesses, and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. I believe there is room for all of us to succeed, and sharing knowledge only makes our industry stronger.
My advice is simple: stay curious, stay humble, and never stop learning. Every conversation has the potential to teach you something, and every relationship you invest in has the potential to change the course of your career.
