Today we’d like to introduce you to Dyana Barnett.
Hi Dyana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Kansas, graduated high school early, and became a CNA. I have always had a passion for caring for others, and it started at a young age because my mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when I was in elementary school. After a couple of years working as a CNA, I had an opportunity to work with my husband, cleaning professionally for vacation rental properties in Texas. Unfortunately, our business was cut short due to Hurricane Harvey, and my husband and I moved back to Kansas. Soon after we returned home, my grandmother and grandpa became ill. It was our honor to care for them and assist them with their daily living activities and daily cleaning tasks around their house. During this time, we found our true calling; we loved making a difference in our grandparents’ lives, being there for them, and helping them in their time of need. My grandpa told me and my husband one day when we were cleaning his house, “Y’all need to make a business out of this; make you some business cards and hand them out. I’m serious!” So, in their honor, that’s what we did! We researched the cleaning business market and realized there weren’t many options outside of home health aides for the elderly and disabled community to get help with services and necessities that consist of more than a typical cleaning company can provide. So, we created Cleaning Companions to be more than just a cleaning company. We wanted to create a business that allowed us to be a personal cleaning and organizing assistant for everyone who needs extra cleaning and organizing! Our motto is “Deep Clean is our standard clean.” We wanted to offer deep cleaning services, decluttering, and organizing for the standard clean pricing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve learned many valuable lessons while creating and starting Cleaning Companions. The most significant lesson we’ve discovered so far is that perseverance is key. With dedication, patience, and hard work, you can achieve anything you set your mind to!

What does success mean to you?
