Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Swartz.
Hi Dustin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a love of art and antiques/ history. We started small, then in 2020 started importing from Europe. We opened our current location in 2023 and added our other love of wine. We are now almost completely importers and slowly building our wine program to feature interesting varietals and styles from around the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With any business there are bumps and sometimes boulders in the road. Our first European container we put together in February of 2020. By March the world was in lockdown and all the product we just purchased sat in Scotland for a year before the shipper was allowed to pack and send it to us. Obtaining the liquor license was one of the biggest struggles we have been through. Nine months of back and forth paperwork and almost a nervous breakdown.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Antiques Art & Wine?
Our “moto” is You never know what you are going to find at The Green Door. We source from all over the world and don’t stick to one “look” or trend. We buy what we like and mix it all together. We strive for quality and uniqueness. There is always a bit of quirky in there as well.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There are so many people who have supported us and had our back along the way. While in collage I worked for a Wonderfull antique dealer here in town, Don Fields, Designing showrooms and working the “circuit” of shows around the country. It was that time I realized I wanted my own shop.
