Check Out Jonathan Mills’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Mills.

Hi Jonathan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I first started my artistic journey at a very young age and have developed my style through many years of exploration, hard work, and determination. I started out using primarily graphite and paper as my medium of choice but have focused more on digital illustrations within the past few years. I am well versed in realism, but I mostly focus on stylized illustration. Raised by a single father with 2 brothers and a sister; I began my art journey drawing comic books. As a husband and father of a son and 2 daughters, I focused on mostly on esoteric, dark art that explores the boundaries of life, death, and the divine. The divine feminine is a major theme in my work.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had a lot of typical struggles and a lot of not-so-typical. Having a rough upbringing made it difficult to find my path. Later in life working full time, family, and being a full time artist brought health issues that stunted my art career. Now I do my best to balance everything by being true to myself and my family.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My art is a very stylized, detailed illustration style. I do work for hire cover art for indie comics but mostly focus on my own esoteric fine art illustration. I’m most proud of my contrast using negative space and hyper detail- I absolutely love this process. I think this amalgamation of detailed dark art, comic style, and art nouveau set me apart from the rest.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My determination, unwillingness to give up., and constant struggle to better myself.
