Today we’d like to introduce you to Goldie Benz.
Hi Goldie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story really starts with a love of thread and fabric that goes back many years — I’ve always been drawn to creating one-of-a-kind pieces, starting with quilting and other cloth media as a creative outlet. That passion for handwork naturally evolved into custom embroidery, which felt like the perfect way to combine artistry with something more purposeful.
I actually got my start creating heirloom embroidery — keepsakes for parents and grandparents, pieces to celebrate new babies, special milestones, that kind of deeply personal, meaningful work. There’s something really special about making something someone will treasure for a lifetime.
Over time, I saw an opportunity to bring that same level of care and craftsmanship into the business world, and that’s when I made the pivot to B2B embroidery. I founded GoldenWorks Embroidery to help businesses — both small and large — stand out with high-quality, custom embroidered uniforms, caps, aprons, jackets, and promotional products. We’ve also grown into supplying retail swag items like totes, t-shirts, mugs, and beanies that companies can offer directly to their customers.
Today, I’m focused on expanding that B2B framework — really refining how I demonstrate fit and value for businesses — while also building out my studio so I can grow into new categories of promotional products. It’s an exciting stage where the heirloom roots of my craft and the business growth side are really coming together.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, and I think that’s true for most small businesses. I’ve genuinely enjoyed creating individual projects for customers — there’s a real intimacy to that one-on-one work. But growing into a business meant I needed to expand my expertise to serve companies, not just individuals, and that came with a learning curve.
The transition to larger corporate orders has been exciting, but also more rewarding, yet challenging. Bigger orders bring bigger stakes — production timelines, consistency, and meeting the expectations businesses have for quality and turnaround. It’s pushed me to grow not just as a creator, but as an operator.
I love the challenge of growth, though. Every hurdle has taught me something and made GoldenWorks stronger. I continue to seek opportunities that will elevate GoldenWorks Embroidery to become a priority choice for businesses looking for all of their promotional needs.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about GoldenWorks Embroidery, LLC?
GoldenWorks Embroidery is Kansas City’s premier destination for custom embroidery, branded apparel, and corporate uniform programs built to represent organizations at every touchpoint. Founded on the belief that quality craftsmanship and brand integrity go hand in hand, we partner with businesses, healthcare systems, universities, government agencies and community organizations across the KC metro — and beyond — to deliver apparel that looks as professional as the teams wearing it.
We specialize in precision-crafted logo apparel, branded uniforms, and promotional products for businesses that refuse to settle for the ordinary — caps, aprons, jackets, and retail swag like totes, t-shirts, and mugs. From a single embroidered polo to a 500-piece corporate rollout, every order gets the same attention to detail, the same commitment to consistency, and the same standard of excellence.
What sets us apart is that we approach every project — no matter the size — with the same care as a custom keepsake. That mindset comes from my roots in heirloom embroidery, where every stitch had to be personal and exact. We bring that same philosophy to corporate work: precision, durability, and genuine attention to detail, so the embroidery doesn’t just look good on day one, but holds up beautifully over time.
Many embroidery companies treat bulk orders as just production runs. We don’t. Whether it’s small batch embroidered polos or a 500-piece uniform rollout, every piece gets the same attention to detail, precision, and quality control.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that GoldenWorks has become known as a name businesses can trust with something as visible and important as their logo. That trust didn’t happen overnight — it’s been built order by order, through consistency and a genuine commitment to getting it right every time. I’m also proud that the brand has been able to grow without losing that personal touch that started it all — we’ve scaled up without becoming impersonal, and that’s exactly the kind of company I set out to build. When your name, your brand, or your story goes on it, it has to be right. That’s exactly what we’re here to do.
