Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Deal.
Hi Destiny, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I earned my degree in Fashion Merchandising and spent many years working in retail, where I gained experience in merchandising, customer service, and the day-to-day operations of the industry. Over time, I realized I wanted to build something of my own that reflected my personal style and vision. That passion led me to launch Swank KC, an online boutique focused on helping women feel confident, stylish, and beautiful. What started as a dream has grown into a business I’m proud of, and I continue to learn, grow, and evolve while doing what I love every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced challenges, setbacks, and a lot of trial and error along the way. Building a business takes patience, resilience, and the willingness to adapt. I’m still learning something new every day, whether it’s marketing, inventory management, or finding better ways to serve my customers. Every challenge has helped me grow, and I believe those experiences have made both me and my business stronger.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in finding unique, stylish pieces that help women express their personal style with confidence. One of the things I’m most proud of is my ability to curate items that aren’t the same products you’ll find everywhere else. I genuinely love discovering unique fashion and accessories that make my customers feel excited to shop. I believe what sets Swank KC apart is the personal touch behind every collection—I carefully choose pieces with my customers in mind and strive to create a shopping experience that feels fun, welcoming, and different.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the fashion industry continuing to move toward more online shopping and personalized shopping experiences over the next 5–10 years. Customers are looking for convenience, unique finds, and brands they can connect with beyond just a product. I think small boutiques will continue to stand out by offering curated collections, personal service, and pieces that feel special rather than mass-produced. Staying connected with customers and adapting to new trends and technology will be key for the future.
