Meet Coach Cheeks of Coach Cheeks Baseball

Today we’d like to introduce you to Coach Cheeks.

Hi Coach, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a baseball junkie, having played and watched my whole life and continue to do so. I consider myself a baseball hardo. There’s so much to love about the life lessons and challenges that come with this great game.
After seeing a major decline in youth involvement with my son joining little league, I decided to start a social media page to help grow the game. This has started with a few t shirt ideas and morphed into my hosting of various youth clinics and even trying out for the Savannah Bananas.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been fun for sure. I wouldn’t say I have a road to where I want to go, because my goals are just centered around growing the game. I think the toughest thing is finding the time to put things out there. Video recording and editing takes time. I usually have an idea pretty easily but the production side it what eats you up. Managing several sports teams and being a family man, while still being a full time employee leaves les s time than desired especially in the spring and summer months, but the fall picks back up.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m really proud of creating a character that I was able to bring to a Banana Ball tryout. The premise was not that far off from reality of who I am, and with some help from my teammates and my family I was able to bring Coach Cheeks to life. My premise: Bubblegum and Chaos.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Don’t be afraid to go after your interests in any capacity. It can open up doors to so many things you never imagined and add more fulfillment to your life. Walking starts with just one step at a time and before you know it you’re running.
