Check Out Dr. Kaylea Cantrell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Kaylea Cantrell.

Hi Dr. Kaylea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Dr. Kaylea Cantrell, owner of Catalyst Chiropractic. My journey started with a passion for helping people live healthier, fuller lives through natural healthcare. Just three months after graduating chiropractic school, I opened my first practice with a vision of creating a space where families could feel supported, empowered, and truly cared for.

Like many small business owners, the early days came with plenty of challenges, long hours, and a lot of learning. But with every patient served, I became more convinced that chiropractic care could make a meaningful impact on the health of entire families, from newborns and children to pregnant moms and grandparents.

Over the years, Catalyst Chiropractic has grown far beyond what I imagined. We expanded our team, welcomed Dr. Hannah to help serve our community, added massage therapy and wellness services, and opened a second location in Gardner, Kansas. Through every stage of growth, our mission has remained the same: to help families take control of their health and create a place where people feel heard, valued, and empowered.

Today, I have the privilege of balancing life as a chiropractor, business owner, wife, and mom. Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the patients, team members, and community who have trusted us along the way. What started as a dream has grown into a thriving practice dedicated to helping families live healthier lives for generations to come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most business owners. Opening a practice just a few months after graduation came with a lot of uncertainty. There were seasons where I questioned whether patients would come, how we would continue to grow, and whether I was making the right decisions for the business.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning to wear so many hats at once. As a chiropractor, I want to focus on caring for patients, but as a business owner, I also have to think about finances, marketing, staffing, systems, and long-term growth. Balancing those responsibilities while also being present as a wife and mom has been both rewarding and challenging.

Growth itself brings new challenges. Every time we’ve expanded, hired team members, added services, or opened a new location, there has been a learning curve. There have been mistakes, difficult decisions, and moments where things didn’t go according to plan. But each challenge has taught me something valuable and helped make both me and the business stronger.

Looking back, I’m grateful for those struggles because they’ve shaped the culture of our practice and reinforced what matters most: serving people well, staying true to our values, and continuing to grow even when the path isn’t easy.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a chiropractor and the owner of Catalyst Chiropractic, where we focus on helping entire families achieve better health through neurologically focused chiropractic care, massage therapy, and wellness services. While we care for patients of all ages, I specialize in pregnancy, postpartum, pediatric, and family wellness care.

Our practice is known for creating a welcoming environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered. We take the time to educate families about how the nervous system impacts overall health and help them make informed decisions that support their long-term well-being. Many of the families we care for come to us during pregnancy and continue bringing their children for years, which is one of the greatest privileges of my career.

What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. What started as a solo practice shortly after graduation has grown into a thriving team with multiple providers, and expanded services serving families in our community. Seeing patients experience real changes in their health while also creating a workplace where our team can grow and thrive has been incredibly rewarding.

What sets us apart is our commitment to relationships. We don’t believe healthcare should feel rushed or transactional. We focus on getting to know our patients, understanding their goals, and partnering with them throughout their health journey. Our approach combines clinical expertise with genuine care, creating an experience where families feel supported every step of the way.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
As a business owner, chiropractor, and mom, I’m always looking for ways to continue learning and growing. Some of the resources that have had the biggest impact on me are books and podcasts focused on leadership, personal growth, and building a healthy work-life balance.

A few books that have influenced me include Atomic Habits by James Clear and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Both reinforced the idea that long-term success comes from small, consistent actions over time.

I also enjoy listening to podcasts from entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and leaders who share practical insights on business, leadership, and personal development. I love learning from people who have built something meaningful while staying true to their values.
Currently, I am listening to Meant To Win with Dr. Stephanie Wigner and How to Buy Back your Time with Dan Martell.

Beyond books and podcasts, some of my greatest learning has come from mentors, colleagues, and conversations with other business owners. Being surrounded by people who challenge you to think differently and grow is incredibly valuable.

Most importantly, my faith, family, and community help keep me grounded. They remind me why I do what I do and help me stay focused on what matters most, both professionally and personally.
