Hi Bailie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I became a Homebirth Midwife in February 2026. My journey to becoming a midwife began with a deep passion for supporting women and families through one of life’s most transformative experiences. That passion grew into a calling to provide personalized, evidence-based care that honors informed choice while building meaningful relationships with each family I serve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. The apprenticeship model, which is the route I took in becoming a midwife, can be a difficult one. It prepared me for midwifery in some of the most challenging ways: it taught me how to build relationships that include trust and rapport, having hard conversations with families in really challenging scenarios, real-life experiences where you are doing the hands-on learning alongside your preceptor who is teaching you, and it even taught me the importance and need for a work/life balance.

As a homebirth midwife, I specialize in normal, physiological birth. This includes thorough pre-conception, prenatal, and postpartum care. With this thorough and comprehensive care, we can ensure that Homebirth is appropriate and safe. With that, I also included true, informed consent, evidence-based information to help your decision-making, and personalized care. At Homebirth Haven KC, we are truly focused on your specific needs. I am also a Catholic, pro-life midwife who values life at conception and believes deeply in faith-based care. We never force our faith on anyone who comes in to care, but rather, we face each family with love and respect that they deserve, no matter their religious preference.
Not only do we offer prenatal, homebirth, and postpartum care, but you can also be seen for pre-conception nutrition counseling, early gender blood tests, HCG or progesterone monitoring, and genetic testing.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
My vision has always been to expand the ever-growing homebirth community in South KC, where I am located. With hospital labor & delivery floors closing their doors to pregnant women all over the country, it makes access to Homebirth midwives that much more important. Over the next few years, I simply want to grow the community here. I want families to know and learn that they are not limited to OB care, that a safe homebirth opportunity is possible, and that birth doesn’t always need OB care. Hospital OB care has its place, but homebirth with a midwife is a very different experience when it’s appropriate.
