Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Reed.
Hi Melissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hildebrand Farms Dairy is first and foremost a dairy farm. Taking care of our girls and producing the best living and care conditions for our cows is our number 1 priority. We then take the delicious milk they provide us and process it in our on-site bottling facility in our signature glass bottles. Producing a great product starts with the cows and the care and attention they deserve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Dairy farming is not for the faint of heart. Early mornings, late nights, and 365 days of work are to be expected. However, the connection we have to our land and the animals that provide for us is second to none. We wouldn’t trade this life for anything, even on the bad days.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are known for our signature glass bottle and delicious milk. We have been breeding our cows with A2 genetics since 2018 and the large majority of our milk is considered A2. This aids in digestion and provides a product that is easier for some to stomach. We often get asked by customers, “why can I drink your milk when I haven’t been able to drink milk for the last several years?” We credit our transition to A2 genetics that provide that specific protien in our milk.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Guiding our business with integrity is everything. When making large business decisions we lean on our faith and make sure it follows our guiding principles of integrity, care for the animals, and care for the great people in our team that make this dream possible.
