Daily Inspiration: Meet Blaqout

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blaqout.

Hi Blaqout, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started producing electronic music as a teenager because I was fascinated by the idea that one person could create an entire world of sound from a computer. What started as a hobby quickly turned into an obsession. I spent years teaching myself production, sound design, mixing, and live performance while constantly refining my own style.

Over the years, that dedication opened doors I never imagined. Under my artist project BLAQOUT, I’ve released music through labels like Subsidia, Buygore, and Uplink Audio, collaborated with artists including Krizz Kaliko, RA the Rugged Man, Ragga Twins, and SubSerum, and had support from artists like Excision, Illenium, Zeds Dead, NGHTMRE, and Borgore. I’ve also performed more than 230 shows across the Midwest, from club stages to major festivals, always chasing opportunities to connect with people through heavy music.

At the same time, I’ve always been passionate about helping other artists. I’ve spent years mentoring aspiring producers and DJs through Recording Connection and later Dream Career Connection, where I’ve worked with students pursuing careers in music production, live sound, and the music industry. Watching people build successful careers has been just as rewarding as building my own.

Today, BLAQOUT is entering its biggest chapter yet. I’m focused on creating an unmistakable artistic identity that blends aggressive dubstep with metal influences, cinematic visuals, and immersive live performances. My goal has never been simply to make loud music. It’s to build an experience that people remember long after the show ends, while proving that independent artists can build meaningful careers through consistency, authenticity, and relentless hard work.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most independent artists, I’ve spent years balancing multiple jobs while investing nearly everything I could back into my music. There have been countless late nights, financial sacrifices, and moments where progress felt painfully slow. The music industry is incredibly competitive, and it’s easy to compare your journey to everyone else’s highlight reel.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success rarely happens overnight. Every release, every show, every connection, and every setback has been another brick in the foundation. Instead of chasing quick wins, I’ve focused on continually improving my craft, building genuine relationships, and creating something that feels authentic to who I am as an artist.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change much. The challenges taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of enjoying the process instead of only chasing the destination.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
BLAQOUT is my outlet for blending the energy of modern metal with the power of dubstep. I love writing music that feels cinematic and emotional while still being unapologetically heavy. Over the last few years I’ve started incorporating my own vocals into the project, which has allowed me to express ideas in a much more personal way and push the project into new territory.

Beyond the music itself, I’m passionate about world building. Every release, artwork, visual, and live performance is designed to contribute to a larger identity rather than existing as separate pieces. I want someone to instantly recognize a BLAQOUT record, whether they’re hearing it in a club or seeing it online.

I’m most proud that the project has continued to evolve instead of staying comfortable. Every release teaches me something new, and I’m always looking for ways to raise the bar creatively. My goal isn’t simply to make heavy music. It’s to create an experience that people remember and to show what’s possible when you stay committed to your vision.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is turning ideas into reality. Ever since I was young, I’ve had songs, sounds, and concepts constantly running through my head. The challenge has never been imagining them, it’s been finding a way to bring them to life exactly as I envisioned them. There’s something incredibly rewarding about taking an idea that existed only in my mind and transforming it into a finished piece of music that other people can experience. Every time I finish a track that truly captures what I was hearing in my head, it reminds me why I fell in love with creating music in the first place.
