Today we’d like to introduce you to Addison Stonestreet.
Hi Addison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Kansas City. My childhood was formulated growing up in the Midwest. I graduated from the University of Kansas in 2011. I moved to San Diego, CA for an artist residency in 2014. I lived in many different parts of San Diego until 2019 when I moved to Joshua tree. In 2020 I moved to Ensenada, Mx. Where I currently live and work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The trajectory of my life changed when I went to college. Since I was five years old my career path was playing soccer. As I grew older and neared entering college. I realized that soccer was relatively young in the United States. In the Midwest no D1 schools offered men’s soccer. I wanted to have a big school experience. So I turned down all my small school soccer scholarships and went to art school at the university of Kansas. In a positive note I wouldn’t have become the designer I am today without changing career paths.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist and designer. I specialize in making clothing. I am known for making outlandish couture garments. I am proud that I never gave up on myself. I am very self-motivated and I think that is very important when it comes to creativity and production.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
High energy. Always playing soccer and skateboarding. I loved to draw and be creative even as a child. My mom used to say that I was always too smart for my own good.
